Meet Zabria Suarez of Gios Wife’s Flan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zabria Suarez. 

Hi Zabria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always dreamt of owning a cafe that my kids can grow up in and learn work ethic. A family business that I can leave with my kids long after I’m gone. Growing up my godmother would always make me flan and it was my absolute favorite dessert. I always looked forward to holidays at her house because of it. I love cooking and baking and being able to teach my son how to cook and bake as well. With the help of my godmother sharing her recipe with me and of course the support of my husband, my dream is coming true! 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been as smooth as it can be but at the end of the day no dream comes easy. I go to school, work a part-time job, and stay home with my son. There has definitely been nights with little to no sleep while I bake things for the next day. Making sure everything is stocked and the desserts come out perfect. Trying to promote myself as much as possible. But always keeping the end goal in mind keeps me motivated 

We’ve been impressed with Gios Wife’s Flan, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The secret ingredient is love! I specialize in Flans and Flan cakes. We have several flavors and sizes. This is a family recipe that has been in my family for a long time and I make sure it lives up to the name. Everything I make I make with love and care. I make sure it’s perfect and with my background in hospitality I definitely always make sure the customer is satisfied. We make flans and flan cakes for any occasion. Dessert shooters for sweets tables. Before I put anything out, I make sure to taste test it and make sure it’s up to par enough to sell to others. I definitely run this company with lots of patience and happiness and you can taste it 😉 

What makes you happy?
My family makes me happy. Every day I’m so exhausted but seeing my son and my husband happy fills me with happiness and motivation. Everything I do is with my son in mind. I can’t think of anything else that makes me happier than watching my son grow up and play and laugh and learn new things
