Meet Zaina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zaina .

Hi Zaina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Los Angeles, Ca the land of opportunities. I have always loved singing, dancing, and entertaining ever since I was a child, but being raised with a single mother in a broken household, it was tough chasing dreams. I was after the wrong things and missed many opportunities for a music career until the year 2020. During the COVID lockdown, I was residing in Orlando, FL and had a lot of time on my hands. I met a friend who was passionate about music, we got to talking and the timing aligned perfectly. He became my manager for the first year of my music career. With his support, I decided to give music a real shot as an adult and I was finally able to release my first single in June 2021. I started my social media journey and continued making music. I was blessed to meet many creatives who helped me along the way; I finally started performing my music in Feb 2022. Currently, I host a monthly open mic event to support local artists like myself in the Orlando area, and this is only the beginning. I have plans for so much more.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think anything is ever a smooth road. To grow anything takes hard work and dedication. It has been much more challenging than I anticipated, from songwriting to performing. I had to break down many walls of fear to put myself out there on social media and on stage. It has been super tough being surrounded by an environment with so much room for criticism to find the right people who have my best interest as a female artist. I learned to believe in myself more than ever, develop tough skin, and continue to do me. I have grown in more ways than I can imagine, and I continue to tackle obstacles as I go.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I like to blend genres and create something different. I am still figuring out my sound, but my music represents world-pop and is still evolving.

Have you heard about any fond memories you have from growing up?
Playing dodgeball in an old alley in Damascus, Syria. Picking Jasmine flowers with my cousins and neighbors and creating bracelets and necklaces out of them.
