Rising Stars: Meet Aixela Antequera of Sand Lake, Orlando Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aixela Antequera.

Aixela, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Aixela Antequera, a Venezuelan Chemical Engineer with more than 10 years of experience specializing in logistics processes and supply chain management, having worked with renowned multinational companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, SC Johnson, and Kimberly-Clark. During my career in Venezuela, I implemented technological processes that represented significant advances for the development of my country.

In 2016, I emigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities. Upon arriving, I decided to reinvent myself and entered the healthcare field, obtaining a certification as a Dental Assistant, while striving to balance my professional growth with the most important role in my life: being a mother.

Over time, I broadened my professional horizons and earned licenses as an Insurance Agent and Real Estate Agent, which allowed me to work independently and establish an agency dedicated to supporting the community.

Nevertheless, I have never lost sight of my main goal: to validate and relicense my career as a Chemical Engineer in this country, so that in the near future I can once again practice my profession and give back to this nation all the support and opportunities it has given me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been easy. Arriving in a new country without a home, without family, and without the ability to practice my profession from the beginning was a tremendous challenge, especially from a financial standpoint. However, every obstacle became an opportunity to grow. Learning a new language and preparing myself in different fields allowed me to reinvent myself and open new doors, always with one clear goal: to provide my family with the best opportunities and to prove that with effort and determination, dreams can be achieved—even in unfamiliar lands.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My greatest passion is serving others. What truly sets me apart is that I never limit myself to my specific field; with the intention of helping, I always go beyond my area of expertise to research, learn, and provide the best possible support. I consistently put my clients’ interests above my own, ensuring they feel guided and cared for every step of the way.

I am most proud of the solid professional foundation I built in my home country, as well as the additional knowledge and skills I have acquired out of necessity to thrive in a new and challenging environment. These experiences have shaped me into a resilient, adaptable, and service-driven professional who values growth and the opportunity to make a positive impact on others’ lives.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I truly believe that taking risks is an essential part of life. Every risk carries uncertainty: there will always be a 50% chance of success and a 50% chance of failure. But the truth is, we will never know the outcome unless we dare to take the leap. Fear is natural—because big decisions can affect many aspects of our lives—but taking risks is necessary if we want to move forward and reach greater opportunities.

The greatest risk I have ever taken was leaving my country and stepping out of my comfort zone. Back home, I had a house, a well-established career, and a stable life. Yet, I made the decision to move to a new country and start from scratch, without knowing what challenges awaited me—and I did it with my daughter by my side. Without a doubt, that has been the biggest risk of my life.

Today, I have no regrets. That decision allowed us to be in a better place than we would have ever been if we had stayed. Even though I left behind certain “advantages” I once had, continuing to embrace risks has opened doors and led to better results. It has proven to me that every risk we take has the power to become an opportunity for growth, transformation, and success.
