Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Diaz.
Hi Amanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m originally from Connecticut and moved to Orlando after I graduated high school. I moved down here so that I could attend college and get my degree. I think I’ve always been a creative in some way, growing up with interests and things like music, dance, and art. When it came to modeling, it was something I didn’t think would happen for me. I just didn’t have the confidence. But as life went on, I went through many highs and lows that really shaped who I am and when I finally found that confidence, modeling didn’t scare me anymore and I kind of ended up diving in headfirst. Today, I am continuing to grow my portfolio, my business, and myself.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think anything, especially an industry like this, is without its learning curves. I’m still learning and have more to learn, but the ride so far has been great. I’m sure that I will face many more struggles in the future because what I’m trying to accomplish isn’t necessarily easy, but regardless I’m excited to see where it takes me, struggles included.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an aspiring tattooed and pierced model, and I specialize in fashion and beauty. I’m currently working on my skills for other categories of modeling, like fitness in runway. That’s one of my ultimate goals when it comes to modeling- to be able to showcase a wide range of different skills and show brands and agencies what I can do. The purpose of my own brand is to show that people with tattoos and piercings can be professional, elegant, and high fashion, but overall worthy of just as much exposure as models without them. I want to break down taboos in the industry.
What do you think about luck?
Honestly, I’ve been dealt a good hand, and I’m very grateful for the experiences that I’ve had. I believe that the effort you put into something has way more of an effect on life than luck, but I’ve been lucky enough to be able to do things like network with some great people, receive opportunities, and have amazing supporters in my life. But I don’t think I’ll go far on lock alone. The work is KEY.
