Rising Stars: Meet Belinda Sims of New York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Belinda Sims.

Belinda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well in 2015 I graduated as a surgical tech and in 2017 I started traveling doing the job. By 2022 I was coming back thru NY headed home to NC where I’m from when I stopped in the Bronx for a visit and never left. While there I decided that living one dream wasn’t enough. I wanted to live EVERY DREAM I HAD!! So I decided to birth SheGrown Media from head and heart to hands and feet. Now we are three years in the making and we are finding our stride within the entertainment world. We have shot everything from NYFW at Sony Hall to the Met Gala! We do music videos for our artist as well. One day I decided I was gonna be a media mogul. And now I am. Funny how you can when you will it to be so!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not been a smooth road! lol Honey you wanna talk about changes. Well first off I am a southern country girl in the big city! And sticker shock is a real thing. But I have enjoyed this struggle more than any other struggle God has put before me. It’s been rough but it’s been fun too. I have learned that keeping your mouth shut is not something I have mastered yet and am working on! Chile these circles here move real different for sure! I also am learning to make time for my star that is rising as well as the stars I am raising.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As I mentioned before I am a surgical tech by day. It was my very first love as far as careers go. And I will forever participate in it. People ask me all the time about choosing one or the other and I always say I am gonna do both… ALWAYS! I LOVE SURGERY, just as much as I enjoy interviewing artist and producing/managing others. And one is paying for the other so of course I would always keep my credentials straight with both. It’s hard sometimes but I make them both work for me.

What are your plans for the future?
I am looking forward to working with all the artists that I will come across. I am also looking forward to the day when both careers join together for a campaign. I would love to consult on a tv show or mini series on Netflix or Hulu. I have been in an Operating room and Hospital for 15 years. There is a lot they don’t show. One future dream is to write my own story and have it to print and made into a movie or series of some sort. I hope I get to live that one out as well!
