Today we’d like to introduce you to Candela Peralta Destine
Hi Candela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I studied at the National University of Córdoba, Argentina, where I pursued a degree in English-Spanish translation. Just before graduating, I was offered a position as a Spanish teacher for an online school, and I quickly fell in love with teaching. My dream is to eventually open my own English-Spanish academy.
In addition to teaching, I love sharing my “Orlando life” on TikTok (@unaargentinaenorlando). I enjoy discussing my experiences in the U.S. while showcasing my passion for beauty and skincare.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the most significant challenges I’ve faced is realizing that when you move to a different country, your “old world” continues to evolve. Everything in your country of origin—people, places, and experiences—keeps changing and growing.
Specifically in teaching, I initially struggled to adapt to working from home without the presence of friends or family, apart from my husband. This was a big contrast to my life in Argentina. Fortunately, over time, I began to meet new people and build a support system that I am truly grateful for.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a passionate teacher specializing in Spanish as a second language. Recently, I also completed a certification to teach English as a second language.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to connect with my students, which can be challenging in an online environment. My primary goal, beyond teaching the language, is to create a comfortable atmosphere where students feel eager to learn.
I believe that what truly sets me apart is my genuine love for teaching. This passion isn’t something all educators share, and I believe it allows me to share my knowledge in a way that is both effective and nurturing.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love all the fun activities that Orlando offers! It’s a unique place where you can experience both vibrant city life and a more relaxed, nature-oriented lifestyle. I also enjoy exploring the diverse restaurants and bars, as the city has a wide variety of cuisines from around the world. Another favorite of mine is Disney World; it feels magical every time I step into one of the parks.
However, there is one aspect I find challenging: the distances! You definitely need a car to get around, as many attractions are beyond walking distance.
