Rising Stars: Meet Chelsea Severe of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Severe

Hi Chelsea , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my journey 6 years ago in my college dorm at UCF. I’ve always had an interest in beauty, doing makeup here and there for family and friends, but it wasn’t until college that I started taking my artistry seriously.

I began practicing on any face I could get my hands on, and as my love for makeup artistry grew, so did my clientele! Although I started out doing makeup at the UCF dorms, I eventually moved back home where I began to service clients out of my mother’s house (thank you Mommy!) , slowly and steadily building my clientele.

I began doing creative collaborations, leaning into my artistic style and nurturing my craft by working alongside my creative friends Jeriah Coffee-Clark (@jrods_creations) a Photographer in the Orlando area and Creative Director Jordan Littles (@taurese.official). Together, we’ve created inspiring projects that have only deepened my love and passion for makeup artistry.

Things took a positive turn for me when owner of MC Beauty Bar, Mariana Ceraphin (@mcmua on Instagram) noticed my work and invited me to join the staff at MC Beauty Bar. I had such a beautiful and uplifting experience transitioning to her space, growing in confidence as a newer artist, all while surrounded by such smart, talented, and successful entrepreneurial women. During my time there, Mary poured into me in so many ways, inspiring me to continue following my dreams and reminding me to keep God in the center of my plans.

Although I no longer reside in this studio, I will always be grateful for the role my time there played in my journey.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This has been the most difficult yet rewarding journey. I’m still not where I want to be yet. There were many points in my journey where I wanted to give up, walk away, and play it safe with an office job. But I know my purpose is here in my artistry. From long periods of no clientele to booked seasons, I’ve experienced every up and down that comes with being an entrepreneur. My faith in God has kept me going, and I will continue to have faith in his plan for me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a professional makeup artist, specializing in soft glam and bridal makeup. I love glamorous looks that are flattering, personal, and wearable. And I LOVE bridal artistry! I am always so honored to be chosen by a bride for their special day. I am proud of my ability to make women feel like enhanced versions of themselves. What sets me apart is that I care about the client experience. From contact to service, I want my clients to feel comfortable in my chair, and confident leaving it.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
It’s hard to choose just one quality, so I’ll list a few important attributes to me that my mom has always instilled in me. Being humble, always being a student, and being resilient. Never give up, and never settle.
