Today we’d like to introduce you to Christen Brown.
Hi Christen, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi! I’m Christen. I’m a born and raised Floridian living in Central Florida.
I’ve been in education for 15 years, but fashion, health, and fitness have always played a major role in my life. I feel as though I was late to the Instagram craze, having started my Instagram six short years ago. During the pandemic, I became interested in content creation. I saw these amazingly beautiful photos and I thought to myself, “Hey! I can do that!” With some trial and error, lots of tutorials, and just going for it, I learned and have been enjoying creating content ever since.
Now, I’m inspired to create a blog to document life with my two littles and my husband, fashion, particularly, sustainable fashion, health, and fitness.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Navigating the content creation world has not always been a smooth road. There have been rough patches like stepping outside of my comfort zones, tough negotiations with brands, and creating content that meets my own high standards.
However, during these times, I’ve tried to remain focused on my desired outcomes and realize that overcoming obstacles makes me stronger. There are lessons to be learned in setbacks, and as long as I remain positive, consistent, and true to myself I will achieve my goals!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been an educator for 15 years. I’m proud of my impact as an educator, but I believe that I am so much more than just a teacher.
My passion lies in creating content for social media. There is something about scrolling through your social media feed and seeing a photo that evokes a feeling or emotion. I wanted to create photos that would make others stop scrolling and take notice. So, that’s what I did.
From there, I ventured into collaborating with different brands and eventually started my own blog.
I am probably most proud of my ability to seek out information to learn how to do different things to enhance creating quality content on social media. For example, I shadowed experienced photographers and learned how to operate a camera to take my own portraits for quality content. I also spent months researching information on how to create my blog from scratch before it launched. I think it all ties back to my background in education. I feel as though as adults, we should never stop learning and gaining knowledge. Your lack of knowledge about something should never be a reason not to pursue your interests or passions.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Most of my networking is done online. When I first started creating content, I followed several accounts that inspired my creativity. Over time, I’ve built connections with several micro-influencers online and we communicate often to create a closer connection.
