Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Mccuen
Hi Christine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My whole adult life was consumed with trying to find my purpose. I always envied those that seemed to know what they wanted to do from childhood. My career has consisted of following what opportunities opened to me and what felt interesting. I’ve worked in so many different industries from baking to policing, restaurants to real estate firms. Nothing ever stuck or felt right. I started doing makeup on Facebook lives for fun and really enjoyed the interaction and teaching. I decided to go to school to get my esthetician license so I could do makeup professionally and that’s where I fell in love with doing facials. A feeling of peace washed over me and I could get lost in the movements. The connection I felt to the clients lying on my table was unmistakable. I knew there was something there. The idea of the beauty industry called to me but the power of healing touch is what has continuously led me down the path I’m on now. Combining healing modalities like Reiki and Sound Baths with hypnotic facial massage into a ln intuitively led holistic experience with the goal of improving the stress and quality of life for my clients. The beautiful skin glow is just the bonus!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I had to overcome near homelessness while going through a divorce and trying to hold everything together for my two children. The toll that took my my mental health and nervous system led to a whole host of health issues. I also got a late-in-life diagnosis of ADHD during that time so there were a lot of unforeseeable circumstances that made my road….pretty bumpy.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I view my work as a sacred practice. I help extremely overwhelmed and stressed men and women find balance, peace, and confidence with my spa treatments and healing services. They may come in for a dermaplaning facial but they will leave having gained insight, wisdom, and a complete change in their nervous system. I want everyone I come into contact with to be positively affected by me. I truly think all of the pain and trauma I endured led me to this place where I can recognize it in others and guide them to a place of comfort.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Nothing is what it seems. You could look at someone and from the outside see an extremely successful, independent, well put together person but under the surface lurks extreme insecurity, fear or failure, abusive relationships, alcohol or drug addiction. Everyone is battling their own demons and the compassion I have for all of them is beautiful. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect.
