Rising Stars: Meet Dj Dalastmo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Dalastmo.

Hi Dj Dalastmo, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Philadelphia PA, but was quickly relocated to Charlotte NC where my music roots were planted. During my high school days, I would often make “tapes” of radio recordings of my favorite songs adding in my own personal commercial breaks which would be the start of Dj Dalastmo.

I attended college at North Carolina Central University and absorbed the talents of Dj Scholar, Dj Bro Rabb and Dj Skaz some of Durhams best Dj’s at the time. This cultured my love for music and the increased my love of turntablism.

I have always DJ’d unprofessionally for family events, fraternity events, and small gatherings, but in the Winter of 2014 I decided to enter the professional realm of Djing. With the mentorship of Dj Emcee (Orlando) and the trusted branding of Florida Party Consultants, I quickly became one of Orlando’s trusted DJs and Host from 2014 to present.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely has not been as smooth of a road to get to a professional status as a DJ. I have dealt with a lot of politics in the promotional game, black ball attempts from other DJs and a lack of respect for the Dj Dalastmo brand. Yet, with perseverance, I was able to overcome all of those and still get booked at some of the most attractive events in the city

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professional DJ/Host in the Orlando area. I specialize in Old School R&B and Hip Hop, can dabble in Rap, Reggae and Dance Hall. Mostly known for my energy and connection to the crowd, my engagement is heavily complimented as a beacon of the brand, Dj Dalastmo. I am most proud of the hard work, footwork, and time I put into the brand to make it as successful as it is today. What sets me apart is my ability to play a unique and diverse Dj set list. One of Orlando’s top host @TeddyAlexander uses the cliche’ “Once you hear Mo, you won’t settle for less.”

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I have two degrees in music from the North Carolina Central University, I sing on the praise team at church and direct the choir.
