Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn González
Hi Evelyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Due to personal health reasons, I was unable to eat processed bread products. And made the decision to research other options and found sourdough, started researching and experimenting with the process. After several months of trial and error was able to make the process work and I saw the benefits along with my family. So we decided to share it with others and start my business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy process, sourdough is very time consuming and somewhat delicate to work with. It can be frustrating when simple things as temperature or timing can ruin the whole process and you need to star over and over until you fine tune it. Then when you start the business we had to figure out what are the best seasons for the products and going from a good season into a slump in sales it’s hard to process as a new business. Further more when we are providing a perishable item and strive to provide the freshest possible.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the moment I work making bread, specifically sourdough bread and strive to include the sourdough starter as part of my recipes of other sweets and pastries. At those time we are trying to make a name for original selves by making sure we provide simple ingredients fresh and tasty breads made with dedication and love to transmit it to our customers.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
More than anything networking thur social media with theme/topic specific groups has helped to understand the processes, learning from others and somewhat shorten the learning curve.
