Rising Stars: Meet Flor and Alfredo Carral

Today we’d like to introduce you to Flor and Alfredo Carral.

Hi Flor and Alfredo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Throughout my life, I was always creative. Before my business, I’d put hard work and effort into decorating and planning parties as a hobby, especially my kids. They had the best birthday decor, if I do say so myself. I enjoyed doing it so much. I knew deeply Id like to make a living out of it and share with other people the beauty of it. I was working in retail for nearly 16 years of my life. Around five years ago, major changes had happened in my life. I had undergone back surgery while my last retail job closed its doors. I took it as an opportunity to make my dream a reality. At the time, my husband was in a good position financially, and we were able to take the opportunity to open Nona Entwined.

Doing it alone wasn’t an easy task. So I received help. Help came in the form of my husband’s uncle who had an audio and visual company. He also had more than 25 years of experience when it came to running his own company. So with his help, he let us join his audio and visual company and added our event decor and planning to it. We worked along side him for half a year. During that time, I gained the experience I needed to branch off and start the company on my own. He was able to help us open and advised us on everything. Things like running, invoicing, and so much more. I was a fast learner and soon was able to extend my knowledge on my own. Nona Entwined was officially born. I learned so many things that allowed Nona Entwined to grow and become a dream come true.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course, there were struggles. I don’t think I would’ve been successful if there weren’t any. I didn’t know the first thing about starting my own company. I needed guidance, and with the help, I received it truly helped pave the way for success. I juggled with so many things like simply being a wife, working at home, and having to be responsible for my children.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a certified event decorator and planner, I specialize in all kinds of events. Just to name a few, I do birthdays, baby showers, gender reveals, weddings, and more. Pretty much any celebration. I am known for bringing someone’s inspiration to life. Things like floral arrangements, ballon decor, and everything under planning a celebration. I am most proud of my growth. This company has gone so far and is only accelerating. Compared to others, I am specific to everyone’s needs, I will customize to your standards. No packages, just what people desire.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned not to take things for granted and to simply be patient, and eventually, things opened up.
