Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Robinson
Hi Gabrielle , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I began playing tennis at the age of four and that became the most important part of my life very quickly. I went on to receive scholarships and play collegiate tennis. During my collegiate career I won two national championships with Georgia Gwinnett College. I moved to New Jersey to train for professional tennis in January 2020 and sadly Covid hit in March 2020 and I had to move back to Atlanta and all the professional tournaments for the rest of the year were cancelled. I continued to train but unfortunately fractured my rib and had to stop playing. I decided to pursue my modeling career and began working with an agency in Atlanta in October 2021. In July 2022, I attended a work conference in Hollywood, Florida with one of my professors and took a job in Accounting which caused me to move to Orlando and begin working in Audit in November 2022. I submitted to Model Scout in February 2023 and have been working hard to establish myself in Modeling ever since. I recently signed with Select Model Management in Atlanta and I am looking forward to what this year has in store for me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all. My first struggle was injuring myself and no longer being able to play tennis because that was such a big part of my life. The second struggle was moving away from all my friends and family to Orlando by myself. It was tough but rewarding and ultimately, I am glad that I decided to do so.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently an auditor with experience in the Construction, Not for Profit and Hospitality industries. I was pleasantly surprised when I started working in Audit with how interesting it actually was. Most people think of Accounting and are immediately bored to tears but digging through clients’ information and searching for fraud really excites me lol. In Modeling, I have been in financial commercials, worked on the HSN network, done before and after makeup shoots and I am currently a FIT model for Disney. I am very proud of everything that I have been a part of because it only motivates me to want so much more for myself. I feel like growing up as an athlete really sets me apart from others because of my confidence in myself and my work ethic.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
When it comes to modeling you have to have thick skin. I would say build your confidence in yourself and your work very early on in your career. You will get told no all the time and you have to remember to never take it personally. When you truly believe in yourself the no’s won’t be as hard to hear. You will know that you just weren’t right for that specific booking and that there are plenty of clients who are searching for everything that you embody.
