Rising Stars: Meet Galaxzi of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Galaxzi

Galaxzi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I was writing songs as a way to deal with negative situations but it wasn’t until 2023 that I started my music career. In late 2023, I released my first single – Ursa Major, (named after my favorite constellation!). It’s a fun diss track about someone who was not-so-nice to me. I wrote and recorded it on my computer and I actually had the song sitting there for a while, I just wasn’t sure if I should release it or not. I decided to test the song on TikTok and one of my TikToks got a lot of views. I had people writing comments demanding I release the song now! So I released it for them! Then in 2024, I released the official music video for Ursa Major. The music video takes place in the year 2000 with a retro-futuristic style and a color palette of pink, blue, green, and iridescent. The video is about being rejected and hanging the phone up on haters.

I just started my music career but I can’t wait to release the rest of my outer-spacey pop songs. 🙂

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been difficult. I’ve faced a lot of criticism and rejection in my life. It makes me feel like an alien…like I’m on the wrong planet. I want to be understood and to find other aliens that get me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an outer-spacey pop singer. I write songs and record them in my little studio. I love astronomy so all my pop songs have a space theme. Last year, I released my first official song – Ursa Major. I’m releasing more songs soon!

I think my proudest moment was filming the music video for my first single – Ursa Major. Because it was really unexpected and so fun. The original plan was to film TikToks but the project morphed into a music video. I met this amazing videographer, Mya Bolds, and the two of us made this music video together. Mya and I did a lot of research into Y2K (early 2000s) aesthetics because the video is set in a futuristic 2000. I’m nostalgic for that time so I just love incorporating that style into my art.

We filmed at L.O Photo Studio and Odyssey Studios in Orlando (check them out!). I had a lot of fun using the different props at L.O Photo Studio; retro sunglasses, flip phones, a CD player, but my favorite was definitely the invisible inflatable chair – just perfect for the video.

We didn’t have a lot of time to film, so after each scene, I would run into the dressing room and quickly change clothes. And then I would run back and act in front of the camera like, ‘Yeah…I’m just chillin out here, I’m in no rush.’ Haha. Meanwhile, Mya was filming and directing at the same time. I think the entire video was filmed in only five-six hours, so most of what you see there was the first or second take. After we were done filming, I was so tired I got myself a strawberry parfait and took a huge nap.

When I watched the Ursa Major Music Video for the first time I was in shock at how professional and cool it looked! It was so magical seeing the storyboard come to life. This was my first ever music video so it was a very special moment for me.

I think what sets me apart from others is that I wear antennas on my head.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice is… don’t let anyone’s words be the reason you stop doing what you love. And if they keep bothering you…write a song about them!
