Rising Stars: Meet Giles Howe of DeLand

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giles Howe.

Hi Giles, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I had fallen into a singing career somewhat by accident after first finding acclaim as a producer of new musical theater in London, by the time I moved to America from Europe I had exceeded my expectations for where my voice might take me having performed to audiences all over the world with orchestras in extraordinary venues and with great vocalists I respect and admire. Starting a new chapter in my life, I fully anticipated leaving a career in the Arts behind me as I embraced new opportunities in the New World. But, love isn’t something you can turn your back on and I truly love music. With the good fortune to meet talented neighbours who share that love, it is second nature for me to create opportunities to make music and to share it with the world, and thus The Pinnacle Singers was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’re mixing many different genres but we have a burning passion for Opera which has a reputation for being inaccessible and people unfamiliar with it can dismiss an entire experience as something they wouldn’t enjoy without realizing how thrilling it can be especially in close quarters and especially when sung in English – which is something we feel we do especially well. A challenge is that we have two creative arms: one an acoustic folky cabaret act and the other a pocket opera company. Reconciling these two very different musical experiences is a branding challenge with what an audience member can expect from one being quite different from the other – what both experiences do have in common however is outstanding musicianship and the opportunity to experience remarkable talented people doing what they truly love.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have fingers in several creative pies aside from being a founding member of The Pinnacle Singers: as a composer I am most known for my ambitious musical SOVIET ZION about the failed attempt to create a Jewish homeland in Siberia and I’ve another show in the works; I am a respected vocal coach and have been offering private instruction for many years and am an Award Winning vocalist who recently released an album under the moniker Gilo & Royal Blue – and will be performing on the radio live to 1.5m listeners in December. My Musical Theater solo album is also coming in February 2026… Our live recording of Puccini’s TURANDOT was just released worldwide to major leading streaming platforms too. I feel very energized and excited about my current and forthcoming creative endeavors and look forward to sharing them with the local community and with the nation!

What makes you happy?
It’s wonderful really, to try something new, and something different.
