Today we’d like to introduce you to Henry & Vannessa Carrillo.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Straight out of high school I joined the U.S. Air Force, where I proudly served for 17 years. Following my military career I relocated to Virginia to join one of the largest ADT dealers in the region. There I met my wife Vannessa, who is co-owner and brings that women owned perspective to our business. Vannessa was born and raised in Bolivia and had moved to the U.S. at the age of 16. We both worked for the same ADT dealer for many years, forging our partnership in business and life. In 2008 we married. We have three children, Matthew 26, Alyssa 16 and Julianna 12.
In late 2017 my job required the family to relocate to Gilbert, Arizona, where we spent 18 months. In July of 2019 we made the move to Florida, the sunshine state, while still employed with ADT. Then, in early 2023 the ADT dealer we both worked for in Orlando decided to shut its doors. For a couple of years we prayed and explored opportunities until we found a franchise that aligned with our passion for excellent customer service and creative solutions. Enter Minuteman Press in Winter Park. The Minuteman team walked us through the franchise process, and in September of 2024 we purchased an established store in Winter Park that had been serving the community for the past 30 years.
It has been an incredible journey thus far and we are learning more about paper and print than we ever imagined. Today we feel it is a great honor to serve the Winter Park community with its printing, design, and promotional needs.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every new chapter brings its share of challenges, and for us, the greatest has been learning an entirely new industry. Coming from the security and technology world, the transition into printing and design was both exciting and humbling. Suddenly, we found ourselves diving deep into paper weights, color calibrations, binding finishes, and all the intricate details that make print such a powerful medium.
Fortunately, we have not walked this road alone. The Minuteman Press corporate team has been phenomenal, providing guidance every step of the way. Our field representative, Zach, has been an incredible support system—always just a call away, answering questions, and helping us navigate the learning curve of the business.
Each day continues to bring new lessons and opportunities for growth. From mastering print production to building relationships with local businesses, we are committed to providing the highest level of service while expanding our knowledge. It has been a rewarding journey of continuous learning, and we look forward to what the future holds for Minuteman Press Winter Park and the community we serve.
