Rising Stars: Meet Humberto Rojas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Humberto Rojas.

Hi Humberto, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I studied journalism in order to be able to be a sports journalist, as my career progressed I began to fall in love with photography, especially street photography. little by little I immersed myself in video, I got a job as a wedding video editor and that’s how I got into videography, I’ve worked from wedding videos to knife maker videos. I love making documentary-type videos, where you know the history of great people and thus be able to give them exposure through a video to learn about their history.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Coming from another country is difficult to start from scratch again, a new language, different cultures. So I have had to work on everything, from delivery driver to warehouse. without neglecting my passion, little by little launching ideas to potential clients and thus be able to grow my business and be able to live from it, I have not achieved it yet but I know I will

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I like to document stories of incredible people, to be able to create videos that generate a feeling and inspire. I am a very calm person and I really like to observe and as I build what I want in my mind and thus be able to carry it out. Normally I don’t direct the videos much but I let everything flow naturally, I like that the protagonist doesn’t feel that he is being filmed because many times there is a certain discomfort when someone is not used to being filmed

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Mainly, my wife supports me in everything and always encourages me to keep going. I always show everything to her and she gives me her corrections. To Jim Morrissey, I wrote to his DM on Instagram asking him to make a video about the whole process of making a knife, he agreed and from there we have built a beautiful friendship, thanks to him I have met incredible people and been able to film them. little by little we are making a youtube channel about his work as a knife maker
