Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacinda Laversa.
Hi Jacinda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Of course! In high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, but I always felt this pressure to do more than I was seeing around me. So, I joined the Army National Guard and made sure to pick a job with a bonus, knowing it would help me purchase my first car. With the National Guard, you leave one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer, so once I had my car, I realized I needed to figure out my next step.
I did some side jobs here and there, but at 19, I got pregnant, and I knew I had to get my life together quickly. When my daughter was just two months old, I decided to start cosmetology school because it seemed flexible enough for me to hustle and make it work. I spent about two years doing hair, and during that time, I was introduced to sugaring hair removal – and I absolutely fell in love with it.
I started working for a company for two years, and eventually decided to venture out on my own because I wanted to create a better enviroment and be able to pay people better. That’s how Sweet Stuff Sugaring Studio was born. Now, I’m proud to say that I have two amazing employees, and we’re growing every day!
That’s the long story VERY short, of course – but the journey has been full of unexpected twists and challenges, and every step has shaped me into who I am today and helped me create this studio I’m so proud of.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While starting and running Sweet Stuff Sugaring Studio has been incredibly rewarding, it definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like any small business, there have been challenges, especially in the beginning. One of the biggest hurdles was building a client base away from everything I knew not having a single client YET. It takes time to establish trust and reputation in the community, especially when you’re offering a service that some people might be unfamiliar with. Educating potential clients on the benefits of sugaring and showing them that it’s a more natural and gentle option was key.
Another challenge was managing the business side of things – the logistics, inventory, and balancing marketing efforts while providing great service. There were definitely moments of overwhelm, but each obstacle taught us valuable lessons that helped us refine our processes and become more efficient.
Despite the struggles, every challenge has made us stronger, and it’s been so fulfilling to see the growth of the studio. What keeps us going is the positive feedback from our clients and knowing we’re making a real difference in their lives, helping them feel more confident and pampered.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Sweet Stuff Sugaring Studio, we specialize in sugaring—a more natural and gentle alternative to traditional waxing. Sugaring is a hair removal technique that uses a simple paste made from sugar, lemon, and water. It’s kinder to the skin and less painful than waxing, which makes it a favorite for people with sensitive skin or anyone looking for a more eco-conscious self-care option.
What sets us apart is our commitment to not just delivering a high-quality service, but creating a welcoming, relaxing environment where people genuinely feel cared for. We’re known for our attention to detail, our educational approach, and the way we make every appointment as comfortable and empowering as possible. We want our clients to leave feeling not just smooth, but truly confident in their skin.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the incredible community we’ve built around Sweet Stuff. But more than anything, I’m proud of my team. I brought them on board with zero experience in the industry, and to see how far they’ve come—the skill, the care, the passion they bring to every service—it’s honestly amazing. Watching them grow and thrive has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
For us, it’s not just about hair removal. It’s about helping people feel good, inside and out. And we’re honored to be a part of that process for every person who walks through our doors.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be playing outside with all the other kids in the neighborhood. We’d run around all day, riding bikes, playing hide and seek, and just having fun without a care in the world. It was one of those simple, carefree times that you don’t realize how special they are until you look back. That sense of community and being surrounded by friends is something I still value today, and I think it’s reflected in the way I approach my work – creating a space where people feel welcome and part of something special.
