Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Achenbach
Hi Jack, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We are a small business located in Orlando, Florida. Our mascots name is Poppy the cat, who is also in charge. My grandmother always wanted to start a caramel corn stand and naturally we worked in doing different flavors to keep it exciting. Currently we have over 30 different flavors.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s a struggle. The first year is all about learning. Finding out what sells, what doesn’t. What pitches work, which don’t. What markets are lucrative and which aren’t worth the time. You lose a lot of time learning but from it you can become more efficient.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a background in culinary arts. I graduated from Johnson and Wales University. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for many years from sit-down restaurants, fine dining, and even food research and development labs.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Occasionally, we will have a really good day of business seemingly out of the ordinary and there’s no rhyme or reason for it.
