Today we’d like to introduce you to Johane Ismond
Hi johane, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Johane, but those close to me call me Jojo. I was born and raised in the vibrant heart of Haiti, a place that shaped much of who I am today. For a long time, I worked in insurance, going through life as many of us do—focused on stability, family, and fulfilling my responsibilities. But life, as it often does, took an unexpected turn after my separation from my ex-husband. I found myself in Winter Haven, feeling completely lost, overwhelmed by emotions, and facing some of the darkest days of my life.
During that time, I was consumed by deep depression and even struggled with suicidal thoughts. It felt as if I was drowning, trying to navigate through pain I never imagined I would experience. The turning point came when I started journaling and turning to the Bible for strength. As I poured my heart onto paper, I began to see the depth of my own hurt and the ways I had neglected myself emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I realized I had been blaming everyone else for my unhappiness, but the truth was, I hadn’t taken the time to care for myself.
Through this journey of self-reflection, I had a revelation—I wasn’t alone in feeling like this. There are so many people, especially busy moms, dads, professionals, and students, who give so much of themselves to others that they forget to nurture their own well-being. That’s when I knew I had to create something that would not only help me but others as well. And so, **J’adoreMi** was born, not just as a brand, but as a movement toward self-love, healing, and renewal.
I started with small steps, creating a Shopify account (www.jadoremi.com) and an Etsy page. I wanted to offer products that encourage self-care, like massage oils and journals, designed to help people reconnect with themselves. But more than that, I wanted to share my story, to show that out of pain, beauty can emerge.
Recently, I published my first self-care book, filled with affirmations and lessons on choosing yourself. It’s not just a guide; it’s a testament to the power of faith, self-love, and the unending love God has for each of us. I took my pain and transformed it into art—a story that reflects resilience and the importance of taking care of your heart, mind, and soul.
I want people to know that even in the darkest moments, there is hope. You can rise from the ashes of whatever you’ve been through, stronger and more aware of the love that you deserve, both from yourself and from God. J’adoreMi is my way of reaching out to those who feel overwhelmed or lost and offering them the tools to start their own journey of healing and self-discovery.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been countless challenges, especially as a single mom moving to a new town where I didn’t know anyone. Starting fresh is hard enough on its own, but when you’re also juggling motherhood, managing a full-time job, and working toward finishing a bachelor’s degree in Media and Communication, it can feel like an overwhelming balancing act.
One of the biggest challenges has been financial support. Building and maintaining J’adoreMi requires continuous investment—whether it’s funding the website, sourcing products, or managing inventory. It’s tough when you’re trying to provide for your family while also bringing your dream to life. To help with this, I’ve been applying for grants to ease the financial burden and bring in additional funding. Though the process is slow, I’m determined to explore every opportunity that could help push J’adoreMi forward.
On top of that, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be launching an event this winter to showcase all of the products. It’s going to be a special moment where I can introduce J’adoreMi to the world, share the story behind the brand, and connect with people who may need what it offers. Despite the challenges, I’m fueled by my passion and belief in what J’adoreMi can do for others. Every setback is just a stepping stone, and I’m determined to see this vision come to life.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a writer and digital creator, passionate about helping others on their self-care and personal growth journeys. I specialize in creating digital products designed to make life a little easier and more organized. From planners that help you manage your time effectively to journals that guide you through reflection and self-care, each product is made with the intention of encouraging balance and well-being. You can explore my collection online at [my Etsy shop](https://www.etsy.com/shop/Jadoremii), where I offer a range of tools to inspire mindful living and personal growth.
What I’m most proud of is taking my own personal struggles and turning them into something that can benefit others. Whether it’s through my writing or the digital products I create, I’m proud of the fact that J’adoreMi is more than just a brand—it’s a resource that can truly help people find their center and prioritize self-love.
What sets me apart is my passion for storytelling and creativity. Beyond my work with J’adoreMi, I’ve always dreamed of acting and producing. With over six years of experience in that field, I feel a deep connection to the arts, and I hope to one day bring my vision to the screen. Acting and producing allow me to tell stories in a way that resonates with people emotionally, just like my digital products do on a more personal level. Ultimately, my work is all about helping people grow, heal, and find their inner strength—whether that’s through a planner, a journal, or a story on screen.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as aligning my life with God’s purpose and living in obedience to His will. True success, from a biblical perspective, isn’t measured by wealth, status, or personal accomplishments, but by faithfulness to God and the impact we make in the lives of others. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Success, to me, is walking in that trust—seeking His guidance and glorifying Him in everything I do.
It’s about using the gifts God has given me to serve others, to spread love and kindness, and to live out my faith in a way that reflects His goodness. Success means bearing fruit spiritually—growing in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). It’s about leaving a lasting impact that honors God, making a difference in the lives of others, and knowing that I am fulfilling the purpose He has set for me. Ultimately, success is about living for eternity, not just for the temporary, and hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21).
