Rising Stars: Meet Joyce Jones of Jacksonville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joyce Jones.

Joyce, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey has been one of resilience and faith. Growing up, I faced the heavy burden of feeling abandoned, which sowed seeds of depression that followed me for many years. That sense of loneliness often left me questioning my worth, but I found solace through a few powerful sources: my grandmother, prayer, and my fur babies. My grandmother was my rock, offering unconditional love and guidance until her passing. It was during this incredibly difficult time that I truly turned to prayer and embraced the comfort of my faith. My fur babies also played an essential role in helping me cope, offering unwavering companionship and joy when I needed it most.

One of the turning points in my journey came through the scripture Psalm 139:14 (KJV): “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” This verse reminds me that God doesn’t make junk, and even in my darkest moments, His love for me remains constant. That realization transformed my outlook, helping me recognize my inherent value, no matter what.

As I grew older, I realized that my story and experiences could inspire others who face similar battles. My mission now is to use my voice and platform to reach those who feel unseen, unheard, or unworthy and to remind them that they are not alone.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped me into the person I am today. Struggles with depression and self-worth were a constant presence throughout my life. The loss of my grandmother was another significant hurdle, as she had been such a strong pillar of support for me. Her passing forced me to lean even more on my faith and to discover a deeper sense of resilience within myself.

I’ve also faced the challenges of navigating a career while managing my mental health. Balancing my professional responsibilities as a financial representative for Medicare with my personal healing journey required immense effort and focus. There were times when it felt overwhelming, but I learned to persevere through prayer and by surrounding myself with tools that uplifted me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Currently, I work as a financial representative for Medicare, specializing in debt recovery for hospitals and providers. This role involves assisting healthcare institutions in recovering funds while navigating the complexities of Medicare regulations. It’s a challenging yet rewarding job that has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of financial processes within the healthcare system.

What sets me apart is my dedication to treating every case as more than just a transaction. I strive to find balance between efficiency and human connection, ensuring that both clients and providers feel supported.

As I’ve grown older, I’ve felt a strong pull to switch gears and become a content creator. My goal is to build a platform dedicated to helping people find tools to combat depression—whether it’s through medication, therapy, or simply hearing words of encouragement that remind them they are enough. I want to be a voice that lets people know they’re not alone and that they are deeply valued.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Absolutely. Faith has been the cornerstone of my life, so the Bible remains my most cherished resource. Its wisdom and promises guide me no matter what challenges I face. Psalm 139:14 is particularly meaningful to me, and I return to it often as a source of strength.

I also find inspiration through sermons on the New Life Channel by Bishop J. Huggins. His transparency about his own struggles with depression resonates deeply with me and reminds me of the power of vulnerability. Pastor Alicia Rooks’ teachings have also been a beacon of hope, offering practical and spiritual guidance that lifts my spirits.

In addition to these spiritual resources, I value the companionship of my fur babies, who provide daily joy and comfort. Their presence reminds me of the simple, pure love that exists in this world, even during tough times. As I transition into content creation, I’ll be exploring more tools and resources to share with my audience to ensure they feel empowered and supported on their journeys
