Rising Stars: Meet K-Marie of Deland

Today we’d like to introduce you to K-Marie

Hi K-Marie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started writting music when I was 16 years old. My brother Gmusik started rapping and encouraged me to write so I started writting hooks and singing in his songs and then started making my own music. I started writting and singing RNB but then slowly transitioned to hip-hop and now I do a mix of both. I love experimenting with diffrent genres and consider myself to be very versitile, my love for music is always growing and expanding as an artist.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing has ever a smooth road honestly, my biggest struggle was not having the means or the time to focus on the music as often as I wanted to. Life got in the way a lot so I have had to really push to make the time for my music. I had to understand how to make it a priority and take it seriously because it’s what I truly love to do and I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didnt.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a hip/hop and Rnb artist that specializes in great lyricisim, and I have really just started on my music career but I would say that I am known for my ability to rap or sing no matter the difficulty of the song. I am always challenging myself to take it a step-further. I take a lot of pride on how hard I work on my craft and I am always trying to get better and improve at what I do. I would say what sets me apart from the others is that I don’t sound like every other female artist in the industry. A lot of female artist in music tend to make music that sexualizes themselves when hip-hop is about being lyrical. I tend to make music that people can really feel and truly relate to while also using my lyrical skills for my true fellow hip hop lovers.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Even when times are hard such as during the Covid-19 crisis it is very important to still stay focused and work on what you love. During covid-19 just like a lot of other artist I used that time to really focus on working on my craft as an artist and improving in forming bars and lisening to artist I look up too such as Eminem, Hopsin, Locksmith and other artist that I consider lyrically mastered and skilled. I also took the time to spend it with family and focused on what truly matters in the hard times and how uniting and loving one another is the only way to get throught those hard moments of crisis.
