Rising Stars: Meet Kaitlyn and Skylar Dickerson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn and Skylar Dickerson. 

Hi Kaitlyn and Skylar, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi everyone!! We are Kaitlyn and Skylar, we’re Sisters, Best Friends, and Business Partners! We live in Orlando Florida and we create Art full time! We Moved to Florida when we were two and three years old from New Jersey when our family wanted to take a vacation to avoid the snow and ended up falling in love with Florida and decided to move here! Growing up in Florida we loved going to the Theme Parks and we always wanted to have something fun and different to wear while also being comfortable while walking around. So, we started making our own accessories, especially Earrings, it felt natural because Art was always our passion! People would come up to us and complement our Accessories, they would ask where we bought them and get so excited when we told them that we made them! We started realizing how much it made both the people and us happy, so we decided we wanted to be able to make things for other people, not just for ourselves. In September of 2020, we opened our Facebook page and our Instagram page (@Lilshopofours) with the hope that we could spread a ‘Lil’ Hope and Joy through our Art, and make things that are fun and different for people to wear! We named it “Lil Shop Of Ours By Kaitlyn & Skylar” 

Everything we carry is designed by us and completely Hand-painted by Us! We even started carrying canvases and Hand Painted magnets! 

We are so Humbled by the Love and Support we’ve received since we started our Art Journey!! Now people all over the world have Art that we’ve painted! Being a part of people’s lives means the world to us, People wearing the Earrings we’ve Designed, Hand Cut & Hand Painted to hang out with their friends, or for their special occasions, going to the parks, going grocery shopping, or ANYWHERE really. It truly means a great deal to us and we do not take it lightly for even a second when people choose our Art. 

People hanging Canvases we painted in their homes, them buying our art as a gift for a friend, it is the best feeling in the World, and we are so excited to continue spreading Kindness, Joy, Whimsicalality and Weirdness through our Art! Thank you so incredibly much to those of you who take the time to show support to us! Whether it’s a like, a comment, a share, a personal message, or making a Purchase… it all means the World to us, and it truly is a Dream come True!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, there are challenges and learning curves when you start something new. It might sound Cheesy but we truly believe that when you put your mind to something you can absolutely achieve it! So, if you’re thinking about starting a business, chasing a dream or going on a new Adventure it is all possible, just remember the four P’s which are as follows: Patience. Passion. Persistence. And Positivity!!! 

We are so grateful we chose to follow our Dream. It took a great deal of courage, but let us assure you, if it’s Your Dream, it’s worth the effort. So, we hope you go out there and follow your dream too because It Is Possible! 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We specialize in creating Unique Designs, that we craft by hand!! What that means is… when we post a photo and it says Hand Painted by us, it truly is completely Hand Painted. And when we say it’s Hand Cut, we really do Hand Cut it! We love Hand Cutting our Earrings & Magnets and then Painting them because it gives each pair a unique feel and we make sure to put a lot of time, attention to detail, and love into each and every item we create! We are most well-known for the personality and Eccentricity we put into everything we do, from our products to our posts, our photos, and the handwritten cards that come with each Order! We love being able to add weird to your wardrobe and home! We are so grateful every time someone connects with one of our pieces and for all of the Support. Thank you for helping our Dream come true. As with all small businesses one of the best ways you can show support is by word of mouth.
