Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken the Rapper.
Hi Ken, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I embarked on my musical journey in 2012 with the release of a song called “The New Kid.” Reflecting on that time, I realize how resourceful I was, beginning a new school year at a new institution while also navigating the music industry. My initial creations primarily fell within the Pop Rock and Electronic genres, heavily influenced by the impact of Hannah Montana on my artistic development growing up. Today, I have amassed a diverse collection of songs and albums that delve into various genres, as I strive to offer something fresh with each new era. Currently, I have garnered over 7.2 million streams across various platforms, released more than 10 albums, and maintain a steady listener base of 70,000. As I move forward, I remain committed to exploring and refining my craft in pursuit of my dreams and aspirations.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Pursuing your passions will always come with challenges. You will encounter obstacles, need to develop personally, and require a great deal of patience. If you believe something is meant for you, it will ultimately be yours. Stay true to yourself and maintain your hard work. I have faced opportunities that did not materialize, including several songs that were selected by labels but ultimately fell through. However, I refused to let that deter me. This is simply part of the journey.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My stage name is Ken the Rapper. While Hip Hop/Rap is not my primary genre, I still contribute to the genre through my recordings. My music is what I am primarily recognized for. I aspire to build a brand around my identity, which is why I am launching my own label, KENCORE RECORDS, to serve my artistic vision until a more significant opportunity presents itself. Additionally, I am in the process of developing clothing and merchandise while establishing an LLC. I take great pride in my latest and tenth album, “CLUB KEN,” as well as in my commitment to my passion. What distinguishes me from others in the industry is my relentless drive and insatiable hunger for success. I may not consider myself the best artist out there, but I am confident that I rank among the top.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
My city is Miami and there’s nothing to hate about it besides some racism and violence.
