Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Brown.
Hi Kenneth, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
What ultimately kickstarted me into everything I do now was music. I started doing music towards the tail end of high school, I was always around music growing up whether it be the choir at church (singing, playing drums), digging through my dad and uncles’ music collection, my stepdad being in a band and my mother being a singer. During high school and shortly after I was in a few musical groups around the area in Ocala, Fl, one of which is where I met my current business partner John Q. I Moved to Gainesville, Fl in 2006 and did the whole gauntlet every aspiring music artist goes through dropping mixtapes, opening for artists, spamming inboxes lol. We started All My Homies in 2011 with the initial goal of being sort of a one-stop shop for everything you would need in entertainment, Music, media, models, clothing, design, etc. Shortly before we officially started AMH, I realized how often we would need photography and videos and how much it would cost at the time to outsource all of it. So, I decided to buy a camera and learn to shoot to kill that cost. It started out as something out of a necessity but turned into a passion that has become a business (HoLup Media). John and myself moved to Orlando in 2013 and Now All My Homies is home to music artists, DJs, Producers, and HoLup Media Provides the visual support. Currently, I still dabble at being a music artist here and there but my main focus is Photography, Video, and artist branding and content creation.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
If smooth was attempting to sail through the Bermuda triangle, then smooth it has been lol. There has been for sure too many struggles, misfortunes, missed opportunities because of those misfortunes, and so forth to even name. You do learn that those struggles are necessary to build you to a point mentally so that when it does start to smooth out you know what to do and you know how to optimize everything going forward.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a photographer and videographer. I lean more towards photography as my specialty but recently I have enjoyed filming more than usual. My shooting ranges from Family portraits to concerts to Weddings to sporting events I consider myself very well rounded and able to deliver whatever type of shoot is necessary. I believe I standout in just catching people in their element, not intrusive in my shooting but able to capture great moments in time. I’m also a music artist with more of a hybrid sound between hip-hop, RnB, and Islandy vibes fairly well rounded the way I am with my photography.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Nothing that has inspired me specifically so to speak but I Recently started reading Will Smith and Carmelo Anthony’s new books.
