Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerwin Di Pietro.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
i started my photography journey about 5 years ago with absolutely zero knowledge of anything, i was always heavily invested into cars as a hobby and pastime, i met someone that quickly became one of my best friends that also happened to be into cars and also photography. at the time that i met this person i had recently purchased a new car and i wanted to take some semi professional photos of it so i asked my friend if i could borrow his nikon dslr camera. my friend reluctantly agreed and that is where my passion for photography was ignited. at the time i did not have alot of disposeable income to be able to purchase my own gear so i was constantly borrowing my friends equipment, taking pictures of random things, random friends cars and so on. over the years i’ve developed my skills on my own for the most part, took a couple of online courses to develop my composition and lighting skills. i am now at a point where i get pretty consistent clientele and new opportunities come knocking everyday. i look forward to continuing my journey as a photographer and seeing how far i will go.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
fortunately it has not been a smooth road, i have had to overcome alot of challenges including one of the hardest ones being the lack of belief and support from alot of my own family and friends. not many people believe that i had the skills or capacity to get to the level i am currently at nor the level i want to achieve. this along with many other challenges have pushed me mentally to want to constantly improve and become as skilled and capable as i am and will be.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
i specialize in automotive and portrait photography also sub specializing in adult content creation. i am most proud of my automotive work, thru doing this kind of work i have had the opportunity to shoot some incredible vehicles and meet some amazing people. i think what really sets me apart from other local photographers is the quality of servie i provide my clients. it can be better described as an experience. all of my clients went from people i had never met to now i have clients i can call friends and have known for years.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
my advice to anyone starting out is to not focus on what others are doing. find your own way, make your own style and know what your time is worth. i wish when i began that i knew that advice for myself. i made the mistake of comparing myself to others way too much and all it did was stress me out trying to be like others not realizing my own uniqueness
