Hi Krystal, can you introduce yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
As a kid, I always dreamed about becoming a model. My dream became blurry as I grew older because of all the bullying I received in school and college due to my height, skin tone, body type, and even my beliefs. I was very different than others, but that never stopped me. I started to invest in myself. I went to various development centers, modeling academies, agencies, and auditions. I was rejected by casting directors several times because of my Latin accent, and I often get distracted. But again, this didn’t stop me from pursuing my dreams. Model with purpose shows that to become a model, you must have values and respect yourself and others. As a model with purpose, you can choose what message you want to bring to the people who follow you. Together we can show the masses another perspective on the modeling industry. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I even received a sexual proposal to become a Top Model in the modeling industry. But my mom taught me well, and I denied it. I thought about it for a brief moment, but it wasn’t worth the price. I preferred the hard way instead. I didn’t put my body for sale or use social media to gain followers by exposing drugs and sex in my posts. But I know how it feels to think it’s the only way to succeed in this industry.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
That’s why I started the Model With Purpose movement to help new models going through the same experience I had. After posting the movement on social media, I received much positive feedback and support. Models from all regions were talking about it. And they were asking to know more about the movement. Because of it, I started working more in nationwide runway shows, print photoshoots, and motivational speaking events.
