Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Viviano.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2014, I found myself struggling with urinary incontinence, as embarrassing as this, it lead to me my passion of serving others through hypnosis. Hypnosis reprogrammed my subconscious mind and ended the years of struggle I was experiencing around this issue. For me when my emotions were heightened I would experience an urgency and had to seek out the nearest bathroom. Through sessions and learning self hypnosis my problem is about 90% resolved which is awesome going from having to travel with an extra pair of under ware and pants just in case I would have an accident and this was in my early 40’s.
A few years after, my daughter was involved in a car accident, she couldn’t even think of driving so she found a hypnotist and is now driving confidently.
I worked in the dental field for 23 years and witnessed many patients whose fear of getting needed treatment was thwarted due to their fear. I also taught a dental assisting program for 10 years to high school students, many times I saw their fears around test taking and dealing with the stress of being an adolescence. Innately, I knew that our subconscious minds and our self talk plays a role in how we respond to the world, I would share this with my students, which gave them a sense of empowerment. Through these experiences, and transitions in my life I pursued a certification as hypnotist. I’m an avid learner and seeker of methods to help navigate life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest barriers people face when they first hear about hypnosis is fear—fear of losing control or being “put under.” Hollywood hasn’t done the profession any favors. But real hypnosis is not mind control; it’s mind empowerment. As I often tell clients, if I could truly control minds, I would start with my own!
Think of hypnosis as guided focus. It helps calm the conscious mind so the subconscious, the part that runs habits, reactions, and emotions can receive new, healing instructions. Whether you’re working through stress and worry, emotional eating, self-sabotage, or even physical pain, hypnosis helps create lasting change from the inside out.
And for those who worry about their spiritual beliefs, hypnosis doesn’t conflict with faith, it can strengthen it. I often weave clients’ spiritual values into sessions by saying things like, “Trust that your spiritual guidance supports you in managing stress.” It’s a process that honors who they are at every level.

The Swiss psychologist Carl Jung said, “What you resist not only persists, but will grow in size”. Simply put, what we resist will continue to cause us discomfort if we don’t address it. The solution for many difficulties is in the subconscious mind, when we retrain the subconscious to recognize what we do want as opposed to what we don’t want it responds. More and more new research validates its power.
