Rising Stars: Meet Mabel Erazo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mabel Erazo.

Hi Mabel; we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The path to success is only sometimes to be a millionaire and have many luxuries. The way to success is to be an inspiration to others. I have been an inspiration since I was little, even before I was born. What other people have seen in me has been so encouraging that I initially didn’t understand it. Over time I recognized the importance of my life, purposes, talents, and gifts. My life, like many other people, has not been easy. However, I have remained persistent in having my heart ready to help and teach. From a very young age, I was in search of my inborn talents. I am adopted. Therefore I needed help to identify them. This is how my first painting courses became linked to my life. However, it isn’t easy to live without art.

Art has been a fundamental part of my life. I first started painting on paper, canvas, and glass. When I finished high school, I wanted to study Plastic Arts, but they rejected my application. So I studied Advertising in Colombia. 4 years later, when I finished this degree, I traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I studied Plastic Arts with a Sculpture Orientation. This is where I spread my wings. I learned a little of everything: Muralism, Ceramics, Drawing, and Painting, among others careers that I still need to finish. Amid a complicated economic and emotional situation, I started home. So in 2016, I immigrated to the United States. Over time, doors opened for me. Despite my little knowledge of the language, I stayed persistent. That is the beautiful thing about art. It doesn’t need words; art is visual, tactile, and emotional. You don’t need to know the language to reflect what you desire. Yes, I have met my goals. But I still have many dreams to come true. One of my goals was to have an Art exhibition. When I achieved it, I felt unshakable. I invested in myself and this great opportunity. I had high hopes. Despite this, I didn’t sell any of my work.

Time after time, we allow ourselves to be influenced by bad experiences or by the opinion of others. But we do not see that these situations make us stronger and braver. I remember, at one point, I was frustrated and sad. I stopped painting for months; I had an emotional blockage. My husband, as my unconditional support, gave me a tablet. With this tool, I gained access to Procreate, which is how I started my process in Digital Art. This is how CREATIVE SOUL BRAND emerged from an obstacle.

Seeing canvases all over my house influenced me to digitize them and start a clothing brand. Thus, my works would be exhibited on the streets. I created this company not only as a source of economic income but also to remind myself how valuable and talented I am. Currently, CREATIVE SOUL BRAND is a company that makes different types of personalized prints according to the client’s necessities. I design, paint and illustrate digitally and manually for all kinds of events, from the smallest to the largest. Over time, I included other products such as cups, socks, key chains, cake toppers, surprise boxes, thermos flasks, pillows, etc. For anything related to printing, sublimation, or simply a brush. I have been hired to do murals in Airbnb accommodations, Design logos for companies, illustrate emotes for Streaming channels, paint live, and many more projects that have filled my heart with more color and inspiration.

However, I’m not only a Mom, Wife, Daughter, Friend, and Artist. I’m also a Streamer. For two years, I have broadcasted the process of each of my projects live. Here I have not only created a community of young people located in many countries in Latin America, but I have also created a family. They are people who have also grown with me, witnessed my achievements, and in some way, I have been an inspiration to them. If I were to look at my past, I would have fulfilled many of my dreams today. I have always wanted to write a book about my life, and being part of this column is the beginning of achieving that goal.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been slow and very blessed. I have gone through different situations; one more will make me stronger. I have been brave; I have not allowed anyone to destroy or interrupt my dreams. I have often received bad comments, but I have many goals to fulfill, and God will be responsible for making them come true for me in time.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a publicist and independent artist. I am very creative, so I have many talents; I decorate and furnish houses to sell. I’m a muralist and content creator. On special occasions, I get personalized orders such as surprise breakfasts, little gifts, love letters, illustrations, t-shirts, or personalized mugs (among others). My paintings generate distinct emotions since I include a lot of colors. Color talks about me, of my personality. I currently focus on abstract art and cubism. I use some materials: acrylic paints on a canvas, pots, mirrors, paper, or clothes, among others. I do some live painting at church events or birthdays; I design logos and motivational wallpapers in procreate. I am currently working on some photography, focusing on Real State. I love to study. I watch online classes in my free time to reinforce my knowledge and expand my curriculum.

Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in good or bad luck. I believe in the purpose God has in my life. And I’m sure it has many blessings for my family and me.
