Today we’d like to introduce you to Maddy Godt
Maddy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was only 14 when I first picked up a camera, not realizing it would shape my future. My mom played a huge role in getting me started—she encouraged her friends to hire me, giving me my first real clients and the confidence to grow. I took a break to do the Disney College Program in 2018, but photography was always in the back of my mind. When I picked it back up afterward, everything just fell into place with capturing weddings and engagements, and I haven’t looked back since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. There were times when I didn’t feel good enough, compared myself to others, and questioned whether I could actually make this a full-time career. Self-doubt can be tough, but I kept pushing forward—consistently posting on social media, updating my website, and sharing my passion whenever I could. Over time, that dedication has paid off. I built a brand, connected with incredible clients, and proved to myself that I could turn my love for photography into something real and lasting.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer specializing in weddings and engagements, capturing love stories in a natural and timeless way. My goal is to make couples feel comfortable, allowing their genuine emotions to shine. What sets me apart is my ability to create images that not only look beautiful but also bring back the feelings of the moment. I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me to document one of the most important days of their lives—it’s an honor to preserve those memories for years to come.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, wedding photography will probably continue shifting toward a more candid, storytelling approach. Couples want authentic moments along with posed shots, and technology—like AI editing and digital albums—will enhance how memories are preserved. Social media can keep shaping trends, but at its core, wedding photography will always be about capturing love in a timeless and meaningful way.
