Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Smith.
Hi Matthew, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started going to parties and clubs when I first got to college and I was interested how people threw such big events. With the help of some great friends and stepping out of my comfort zone, I was able to start throwing my own events and building a brand known as “ Dream Seller”. As I started throwing more and more events, people started booking me for their events like club parties and concerts. As time went on I also learned how to Emcee parties and started to become a great host.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a party promoter and a host is not easy. A made a lot of mistakes trying to become the best I could be. When it came to throwing parties, stuff like lack of help, money & miscommunication. Also, people doubting really took a toll on me. Learning how to Emcee was pretty hard and I’m still learning today. Saying the right things to get the crowd hype and energetic was and still is pretty difficult. Sometimes I would get discouraged if I said something and don’t get a reaction. But surrounding myself around the right people & teachers really taught me a lot & improved my skills for building my brand as a party promoter and a host.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently enrolled at Eastern Florida State College getting a degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences. I’m very focused on school so I can graduate and be a Lab Technician.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Networking is the most important thing you can do if wanna be successful. One thing I’ve done to get to where I am today is go to a bunch of big events and introduce myself to many people who throw events or own clubs & establishments, tell them who I am, what I’m about and what I wanna do. I also try to expand and network with modeling companies, restaurants, graphic designers, DJs, anyone who has goals they wanna achieve. Networking does a lot!
