Today we’d like to introduce you to Miguel Aguilo.
Hi Miguel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into the credit industry started with a personal obstacle.
When I decided to buy a home for my family, I learned that my credit score wasn’t strong enough to secure the best interest rates or an easy approval. I was told to raise it—but no one explained how. I asked for help, even referrals, but nothing came through.
So I took responsibility.
While my home was being built—a process that took about six to nine months—I spent that time educating myself. I read, researched, and learned how credit really works: how negative items impact reports, how disputes function, and how scores can be improved. By the time the house was ready, my credit was ready too.
That moment changed everything.
I was proud not just because I fixed my credit, but because I did it for my family. As I shared my experience with others, someone asked if I had formal training. I didn’t—but they introduced me to a Credit Repair program. I enrolled, and that education gave me the structure, confidence, and push I needed to turn knowledge into a business.
From there, I continued learning, gaining experience, and refining my skills until I felt ready to launch my company.
That’s how S&M Financial Solutions was born.
Today, we help people qualify for homes, vehicles, and business funding—because credit affects every major opportunity in life. When your credit is strong, doors open. My mission is to help people open those doors with confidence and clarity, just like I did.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my biggest challenges has been persistence, the CRA’s (Credit Reporting Agencies) have learned that if they delay the process by sending vague responses and “Stall letters”, the consumers will get discouraged and abandon the process of fixing their credit. Have the Credit Reporting Agencies stay in compliance with the law most credit reports should be fix in 30 to 60 days, but that could cost them a lot of money and they will sabotage the process.
That creates another big challenge, time, it take time to make it right, but I’ve learned that purpose creates capacity.
Even with limited hours, I stay disciplined, organized, and intentional with my time. I work early mornings, late nights, and weekends when necessary—not because I have to, but because people are depending on results. My clients trust me with their financial future, and that responsibility matters to me.
Rather than seeing time as a limitation, I’ve learned to work around it. The challenge has sharpened my work ethic, strengthened my leadership, and reinforced why I do what I do: to help change lives through education, strategy, and action.
The obstacles are real—but so is the impact.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My greatest passion is helping people transform their lives—both personally and financially.
I am also a Pastor, my calling has always been to serve people, meet them where they are, and help restore faith, hope, and direction. We live by faith, love, and integrity, and by loving others the way God loves us. That same foundation carries directly into my business.
Credit repair, to me, is more than numbers on a report. It’s about restoring confidence, creating opportunity, and giving people a fresh start. I approach my work with the same heart I bring to ministry: honesty, transparency, and genuine care for the people I serve.
Integrity is non-negotiable for me.
In my business, it’s never about how much I get paid—it’s about doing what’s right. I’m clear with clients about the process, realistic about outcomes, and honest every step of the way. One of the most meaningful compliments I receive is, “Thank you for being upfront and honest.” That feedback reassures me that I’m operating with the right values and for the right reasons.
When faith, integrity, and service come together, real change happens. And that’s what drives me every day.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I love music, I’m a musician, and I also enjoy making people laugh. Comedy has always been a natural part of who I am.
