Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Jones Webster.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a basketball family & a very highly sought after athlete. I graduated high school ranked as the #9 athlete in the country. I put much of my time, energy & identity in basketball. From High school I then went to Northwestern University & then transferred to Florida State University to play basketball. At Florida State we went from being a top 50 program to a top 10 program in the country within the 3 years I was there. Competing for an NCAA elite 8 & national title. From there I went on to play professionally in Puerto Rico. After returning home from the season I was experiencing this pull to put the ball down & Be done with the sport. I wasn’t able to see what my future would be like but my heart was telling me it was time to step into faith. When I did that I experienced a challenging transition as I transferred the loss of my identity into poor choices.
This led me to discover a new way forward, one that is led by limitless vision & purposeful impact. In doing that, I began serving my community, going to speak to teams, classes & local organizations for free. Spreading the message of having a vision for your future & belief in self. Overtime a 5 year period this evolved into a nationally recognized movement called Athletes to Visionaries where we provide products, programs & events to unite female athletes nationwide, to become the Visionary of their athlete journey!
While speaking at numerous universities across the nation, serving as a basketball analyst & hosting sold out events, I’ve been recognized in National Media outlets such as Essence, CBS & ABC. I am also the creator of The Vision Box a toolkit designed to transform your thoughts, ideas & vision into your reality, Through this all i am grateful for my partners such as Jr.NBA & Gatorade to bring vision to athletes far and wide.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The most challenging aspect of the work I do is getting others to believe in the female athlete journey as valuable, interesting & worth investing in. Often times, we are so focused on male sports that we neglect the young women who play too. Many outsiders believe athletes live a charmed existence… & in many cases they do, however, as their playing career evolves they need to be continually reminded & empowered that their value doesn’t not start & end in a stat sheet. It goes beyond their playing days. The sport they play is a vehicle to help them discover their unique path, voice & purpose in life.
Being an athlete is limited. Being a Visionary is Limitless.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in creating experiences that ignite emotional & spiritual stability in young women. What sets me apart is the my service & heart led leadership style. Many describe me as authentic & a guide that leads others to their own answers.
I am most proud of the commitment my team & I have to create transformational experiences & products for female athletes. The testimonials we receive are our greatest drivers. Knowing that we are impacting athletes in a way that reframes their value & worth as something they have the power over. That their vision for themselves, as young women, community contributors & Visionaries will sustain them long after their playing days.
What are your plans for the future?
We are looking forward to hosting our 2022 cohort Virtual & in Person Program Together We Transition. This program will allow us to reach college graduates & transitioned athletes nationwide. Uniting & equipping athletes across the nation with the tools, resources & guidance to step into the power beyond athletics.
