Rising Stars: Meet Nano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nano.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Life long Artist turn Art Advocate. Active in the Orlando Art scene since the ’90s with Victor Perez, curator of the now-famous “Nude Nite” art event. 2009 hard into street Art in Europe mostly because Banksy, Deface and Etam Cru. 2012 got into Photography and started documenting Street art in Wynwood Miami.

By 2014- 2015 I had documented all the known Mural Festival in the State of Florida. Shine on St. Pete, Canvas West Palm Beach, Art Republic in Jacksonville, Gainesville and the World famous Wynwood Walls.

2016 I started documenting the Orlando Art Scene, local artist and galleries. 2020 I curated my first art collector event with several artist called “The Orlando Freeport.”

Currently working on a new art event to bring attention to Osceola Arts and the talented local artist. The event will also focus on creating a new social model for collecting. The Artworld constantly changing and so are the collectors. They younger and more diverse. Today’s collector want to see themselves reflected in the Art their buying.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I away heard let’s do something together or I’ll call you but that’s the nature of things. Everybody’s a f*cking expert when it comes to mural game and street art. (Lol) The thing I always struggle with was how artist were treated.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m in financing, that’s the job that pays my bills. The Art advocacy and Specialized art collect event is my passion. I’m know for the relationship I have with gifted mural artist locally and around the world. My idea is simple collaborate with artist as equals, listen to their ideas and create new model of collecting by bringing a new artistic awareness to people and educating them on how to collect or invest in today’s artist.

What set me a part from anyone else is that I’m not gallery or a museum. I am independent and open minded. Organically growing a loyal art collector base that can depend on us to bring the newest, cutting edge art in an ever changing art market.

We currently have a show running at Redefine Gallery (@redefinearts) we curated now til July 15 at City Arts Downtown called “Disruptor”
It free to the public.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grow up in the South Bronx. That’s were my love for graffiti comes from. I went to music and art high school in the 80’s, moved to Florida Oct 22, 1988. My wife’s from Bulgaria, I’m Puerto Rican and my kids recognize themselves as Eastern European Caribbean. Beside art my interest are learning new languages. Traveling and collecting Art.
