Today we’d like to introduce you to Niyeliza Rivera
Hi Niyeliza, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Niyeliza Rivera. I was raised in the Dominican Republic before moving to Florida 11 years ago. From an early age, I have been very passionate, creative, disciplined, and structure-driven. I thrived in hands-on activities and environments that allowed me to express myself freely and think outside the box. Additionally, I deeply love education and enjoy teaching others what I have learned.
About three years ago, I took a leap of faith and left a workplace that no longer aligned with me. At the time, I had a one-year-old and was searching for an opportunity to work from home. Still navigating the aftermath of the pandemic, I felt uncertain about my next steps. Having spent eight years working in higher education, transitioning into a new industry was both intimidating and unfamiliar.
I eventually joined a virtual assistant company, not knowing what to expect. Fast forward three years, and I am now the Senior Team Lead, where I have the opportunity to train, coach, and mentor new virtual assistants, helping them excel in their roles. This journey also led to another incredible opportunity alongside a close friend.
As someone passionate about teaching and community building, I truly understand the value of connection—especially as a mom. This realization inspired the creation of She Cultivates Orlando, a space where women can connect in an authentic and organic way. She Cultivates is a collective of women dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships, supporting one another, and building a strong, uplifting community.
Today, I am a proud wife, mother, leader, and co-founder of a growing movement in Orlando—one that continues to create impact and bring women together in powerful and meaningful ways.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been an easy journey, but I strongly believe that true growth comes from challenges, not from smooth sailing. The obstacles, the countless “no’s,” and the struggles are what make our achievements even more meaningful. Stepping out of my comfort zone meant venturing into unknown territory, but I always knew that growth and exciting opportunities would come with it.
With She Cultivates Orlando, we host monthly events, and navigating that process has been a journey of its own. We’ve had incredible successes, but we’ve also had events that became valuable learning experiences. That’s the beauty of pursuing something you’re passionate about—you assess, adapt, and refine. We’ve learned to embrace every opportunity, test new ideas, and not fear failure because every setback is a lesson that helps us grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As the Senior Team Lead of a virtual assistant company, I play a key role in leadership, focusing on coaching, training, and equipping my team with the resources and problem-solving techniques they need to succeed. I oversee a team of over 60 virtual assistants and work closely with our VP of Operations to optimize company operations and logistics. Much of my work revolves around improving systems, testing and refining processes, and providing tools that help VAs excel in their roles.
In addition to my leadership role, I co-lead She Cultivates Orlando, managing the administrative and operational aspects of our business. My responsibilities include sales reporting, event communication, vendor relations, and streamlining operational processes for our events to ensure seamless execution.
What sets me apart is my unique ability to balance structure and organization with a creative mindset that allows me to think outside the box. Having worked with multiple companies as a virtual assistant, my primary focus has always been identifying ways to enhance efficiency and create seamless, effective systems that drive success.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes! Be adaptable. It’s important to plan and create to-do lists, but life can change in an instant, and learning to be flexible is essential. Also, build a strong support system—it will guide you and provide help during uncertain times.
