Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar Balushi.
Hi Omar, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started as an artist, seeing and experiencing the struggle of music promotion, an artist’s biggest challenege. How to get the music out there is a completely different story to the quality of the music. I decided to create a movement called “Bring Back Great Music” which would morph into a platform for artists to share their music, create a community, and form an identity for themselves that they can later use to boost their music and promote their art, free of cost, the most important part for a startup artist.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Reaching artists; many artists don’t know about our platform and page. Not only that, but also upon first look on our page, most artists are automatically disengaged, because they think it is another paid promotion that they cannot afford or they cannot see any results from, not knowing that most of the fans engaging on our page and most of the viewers are musicians, playlist owners, curators etc!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a 21 year old student, just finished my last year and graduating from University. I studied International Relations and Economics. I am also a contemporary pianist/composer, writing music and uploading music everyday on my YouTube channel, nonstop “Omar Plays Piano” What sets me apart from others if my unrelenting perseverance. My discipline and motivation are very pivotal and imperative when it comes to making sure i am consistent with releasing music, creating the artist promotions on BBGM (Bring Back Great Music – the free of charge platform community for artists that we spoke about earlier). I am known for these qualities and this is why many artists trust and engage with our page, because they trust I will keep this community going! I am very proud of these qualities and our forming community.
Any big plans?
The main plan now is to increase the exposure of BBGM, collaborate with many other businesses and ideas in the same industry/genre/area, creating a massive movement and a very known body/platform for artists to refer to first, before going and spending money on uncertain promotions and wasted efforts.
I also plan to increase the quality of my videos on YouTube to be able to reach a wider audience and be able to monetize it and use the money to fund some aspects of BBGM through travelling to do interview and meetings with similar ideas to help increase engagement and exposure.
