Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Saucedo.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I have been interested in makeup since I was about 13 years old. I was watching tutorials on YouTube nonstop, trying to learn how to do my makeup. I did my makeup, and then I would do it on my best friend for fun. During my senior year of high school, I did my prom makeup, and someone asked me to do theirs, which I loved. I never considered doing makeup as a career because I didn’t believe in myself. In 2022, I realized that the 9-5 lifestyle was not something I wanted for myself for the rest of my life. My family and boyfriend told me I should consider starting a makeup business. I was nervous and scared but didn’t have much to lose. I was beginning my senior year of college and working full time, and I leaped to start my business. I practiced and did makeup for free in all of my free time (and I still do) and eventually gained a bit of traction and had real clients; a year and a half later, I have a steady clientele in brides and miscellaneous events and photoshoots, and I can’t imagine doing anything else for the rest of my life. I still have a way to become full-time, but I look forward to when that day comes.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been the smoothest, but it hasn’t been the worst. I haven’t allowed myself to give up. I can be hard on myself and lack some confidence because I am “not as good” as my peers who have been doing it for years. But I keep going no matter what because this is my passion!
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do makeup for any occasion possible: weddings, photoshoots, commercials, just because — anything! I specialize in soft, structured glam and am well-known for it in this area. I am most proud of the fantastic clients that I attract. They know exactly what I offer and respect me, my prices, and my policies.
Have you learned any exciting or essential lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
I was not open during COVID.
