Rising Stars: Meet Rachel “Ms. London” of Davenport

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel “Ms. London”.

Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been a tattoo artist for almost 20 years, and a fine artist for most of my life. My Art as a teenager is what allowed me to get into the tattoo industry by my first boss, Rob G. of Tiger Tattoos (RIP, 2009).
Over the last decade I have specialized in Realism and Cover-ups.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life has not been smooth at all, many ups and downs in both professional and personal life. Unfortunately with a lot of childhood trauma, I had to learn from a young age to figure things out on my own. Art was my escape, my quiet space where I could stay away from the real world.
In the professional industry female artists are very few and far between, especially in the early 2000s when I started.. I’ve had to work twice as hard as most to get where I’m at. I started before all the social media, tv shows, and mainstream view of tattoos.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As I heard from a fellow artist, “I am a tattooer first, a tattoo artist second”. I started out in a street shop doing flash off the walls and taking walk-ins. I earned my clients with quality work and giving my time to them while they are in my chair. I know how to tattoo all styles, and over the last decade I’ve dedicated to specializing in realism and cover-ups. I am most proud of doing specific animal portraits, I love creating pet portraits, and I take great pride in covering up old works that allow clients to love themselves again.
