Today we’d like to introduce you to Randy Silver
Hi Randy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a well-rounded Multi-Media Journalist and producer specializing in sports anchoring, reporting, play-by-play commentary, producing, and editing. I currently attend the Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting at Full Sail University and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science Sportscasting Degree in February 2025.
I’ve had the opportunity to cover a wide range of sporting events as a credentialed media member. These include club and international soccer matches, college football and NFL games, combat sports (PFL AND MVP Boxing), LPGA, MLB, and multiple sports for the D2 NCAA National Championships.
I’ve commented on UPSL, NISA, D2 NCAA, NJCAA, and Florida High School Sports for a wide range of sports that includes Men’s & Women Women’s Basketball, Lacrosse, and Soccer, Women’s Volleyball, and Softball, and football.
As a producer and editor, I work with the WWE, Kraig Kann Advisory, Scott Hanson of NFL RedZone and Make Plays Media to create short and long-form content.
I initially graduated from the University of California Santa Cruz in 2015 where I received an Environmental Sciences and Economics Duel Major degree. After graduation, I moved to San Francisco to start my professional life in the tech business world.
Starting as a Sales Development Rep at Cisco, I was promoted to manager of the 10-person SDR team within one year. Over the next five years, I continued to climb the corporate ladder with multiple promotions to lead sales teams across five different continents eventually. My proudest accomplishment is having over 25 individuals promoted under his leadership.
After Cisco, I joined a series B start-up company, Oyster HR. I was hired as the first Americas sales manager. Under my leadership, the sales team grew from three to fifteen reps and America’s revenue grew by almost 4x.
At the start of 2023, feeling unfulfilled in my career as it wasn’t my passion, I quit my tech leadership career and moved cross-country from California to Florida to pursue my sports reporting dream.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. At 30 years old, moving your life from one side of the country to the other is extremely hard. In addition, starting over and transitioning to a whole new career and skill set humbles you. I’ve sacrificed personal relationships with family and friends in the pursuit of my dream.
A lot of trial and error to learn to speak on camera and be comfortable. Learning how to overcome my speech issues to coherently speak on tv so others can understand me.
It’s been a wild ride, but something that is rewarding and enriching with the opportunities I’ve earned and succeeded at!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a sports reporter and producer, I specialize in creating engaging content that highlights the stories behind the games. I focus on team and player stories with unique angles, When I am reporting on an event, I try to find the hidden details that help make the audience smarter. I’m known for my ability to connect with audiences through compelling narratives and dynamic visuals.
I’m particularly proud of my work on creating a feature about Juan “Burrito” Martinez. He is a former Argentinean international soccer player who is now a player-coach at the local pro team Club De Lyon. I chronicled about his transition from playing with Lionel Messi to now coaching and teaching the next generation! This project not only received positive feedback but also resonated deeply with fans, showcasing the human side of sports. [https://youtu.be/5KnurSlsMF4]
What sets me apart is my passion for storytelling combined with a strong background in production. I strive to bring a fresh perspective to every piece, ensuring that each story is not just informative but also emotionally engaging. My commitment to authenticity and thorough research helps me build trust with both viewers and athletes, making my work stand out in a crowded field.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Follow your dreams. Life is short. It helped me re-evaluate my life. Although I had a good corporate job with a great work-life balance, I wasn’t satisfied with what my day-to-day was. As a result, I chose to follow my passion to make it my career
