Today we’d like to introduce you to Roy Tosh.
Hi Roy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started back music back in 2005. I didn’t even know where the “c” note was on a keyboard. I’ve learned never to despise small beginnings. With a passion to reach youth with a message that changed my life forever, I have now been doing music for around 15 years. God radically transformed me after high school, and I just wanted people to know that God loved them and what He did for us through sending His Son. I thought to myself, if I can reach just 1 more person and give them hope, it’s all worth it! It’s this same mission that drives me today. Gratefully, God has taken my music across the world. I’m signed to an indie label RMG Amplify, and continue to make music! It’s incredible to me all the places I’ve been and the people I’ve met over the years. God is faithful to whatever He calls us to!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The obstacles are endless. I’ve learned the hard way that true success is all about being faithful to what God has asked me to do. If I can say that I’ve honestly been faithful to my purpose in life… that I’ve given my all to accomplish that, then at the end of the day, in God’s eyes, I’m successful. People have told me I should quit and give up. People have made fun of me. People have thought I was crazy. But I know who I am, and more importantly whose I am. In knowing I’m loved by God and that nothing can ever separate me from His love, I’m free to be me and go after my purpose in life. The obstacles continue to come, but I’m staying on mission!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known for being a hip-hop and pop artist – “Roy Tosh”.
Some of the greatest accomplishments to this day is having music placements with networks such as CBS, VH1, Foot Locker, Journey’s, God TV, and more. I’ve had multiple songs enter the billboard charts as well as recently a number one song for 6 weeks on The Hot Chart (thehotchart.com). Most recently, one of my songs was used as the introduction to the NCAA Men’s national tournament basketball game that aired to over 18million people!
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think in order to get somewhere or accomplish something you feel called to; risks are inevitable. It won’t always make sense. You have to have a sense of passion and purpose in whatever you do. When you have passion and purpose, the risks are something you are willing to take on because you’ll give whatever it takes to make things happen! Of course, you have to use wisdom and count the cost depending on what the risk is, but again – sometimes you have to take them!
