Rising Stars: Meet Sarah Lizzoli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Lizzoli.

Hi Sarah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I never really had a distinct moment when I decided that I wanted to become a hairstylist. I think I always had a somewhat entrepreneurial and creative mindset but was never really sure what to do with it.

I went to UCF and earned my degree in psychology, then spent some time overseas in Japan figuring things out. When I came back, I was certain that I was going to go to grad school to get my doctorate in psychology.

This school in Chicago wanted me to fly out for my final interview. I guess it was around that time I sort of had this quarter-life crisis and decided to go to cosmetology school instead. I’m really glad I did because there’s been no looking back and I absolutely love my career.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I mean, there will always be struggles in life, but I have been relatively lucky in my career. I’d say the biggest obstacles were always just figuring out the next step and not being afraid to take it.

You know, anytime you feel like you’re starting to outgrow a space, trying to figure out what your next move will be, and making sure that you still continue to grow, it’s very nerve-wracking. It’s always a little scary but a necessary part of life, I think.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a hairstylist but really consider myself to be a cutting specialist. I especially enjoy doing shorter haircuts and styles. It’s something that I’ve worked really hard to master and I’m really proud of that. People often talk about “lived-in” color and I like to think that my haircuts give that same feel. I want it to be easy and effortless but still gorgeous.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m currently accepting new clients for haircuts at Theory Salon, and you can call 407-250-4140 to set up an appointment!  I’m also always down to collab with other local artists. I love a good sense of community and teamwork. I have worked with other colorists, makeup artists, filmmakers, and stylists in the past on beautiful projects and I’m always open to that. As far as supporting each other, just a quick share or compliment on social media is always very appreciated!
