Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanya Evans.
Hi Shanya, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I first showed interest in beauty when I was a young child, Between playing with my Barbie doll heads and taking it seriously by doing their hair and makeup; as I grew in my teenage years, I put my beauty interest to use at the age of 14 years old started as a hairstylist assistant and knew this was something I had a desire for making people feel good about themselves. At the age of 23 years old, after having my baby, I became a cosmetology student at Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School in Oviedo, Fl graduated in a two-year program that included makeup and hair; I enjoyed working with different textures of hair from Fine, Wavy, and Curly and Extra Curly. Once I graduated, I focused more on my in-home salon and being a traveling stylist. Many clients enjoy my in-home salon because I deal with clients who suffer from hair loss and are insecure about going into the salon. I made a safe place for my clients to feel confident and comfortable doing their hair. Today, I am doing more Bridal hairstyling, Event Hair styling, and making Medical wigs for alopecia patients, which are my passion for making people feel beautiful throughout any event.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As we know, businesses can have good and bad days. On my bad days, I promote more content for Instagram and Facebook, to name a few, to keep pushing through the hard times and think positively. I always remind myself that someone is watching my page for new content.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in silk press, tape-ins, micro links, natural protective hair styling, medical wigs, event hair styling- such as bridal- and more.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like how diverse we are in Orlando and how people are willing to try different hairstyles. I don’t have anything about our city.
