Today we’d like to introduce you to Shari James.
Hi Shari, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2005, everything changed when I experienced a full kundalini awakening. What began as a four-year initiation has continued as a 20-year journey — one that has deeply reshaped how I understand energy, consciousness, and healing. This awakening wasn’t something I studied — it was a direct transmission that moved through my body and rewired my entire being from the inside out.
Since then, I’ve devoted my life to guiding others through their own energetic openings and helping them reconnect with the intelligence of their bodies.
Today, I lead Tantra ceremonies rooted in presence, reverence, and the awakening of higher consciousness through embodiment. I blend nervous system wisdom, energy work, and intuitive guidance.
My work is less about performing Tantra — and more about being it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges has been walking a path that most people don’t understand — or even see. When you’ve had a direct spiritual awakening and live your life guided by inner knowing, it can feel isolating in a world that values the mind’s logic over embodied truth. It’s a world that often rewards quick fixes over depth, and performance over presence.
Another challenge has been navigating the cultural discomfort around sexuality and spirituality. These are two of the most potent forces we have access to, but they’re also two of the most misunderstood, repressed, or sensationalized. Doing this work with integrity means constantly holding space for other people’s projections, resistance, and fears… without letting them shrink my voice.
And, like many healers, I’ve had to face my shadows along the way. This path requires me to stay deeply honest, regulated, and energetically clear — because my work isn’t just taught, it’s transmitted. That level of responsibility is beautiful — and humbling.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Tantra-based spiritual teacher, master healer, and planetary lightworker. My work centers on guiding individuals through transformative experiences that awaken their inner energy and elevate their consciousness. I specialize in leading Tantra ceremonies rooted in presence, reverence, and embodied awakening.
What I offer is not about altered states induced by an external substance. My ceremonies are safe, legal, fully clothed, and guilt-free. They offer a form of Tantra that creates a natural energetic high through breath, presence, and connection. Many clients report that the experience equals, rivals, or exceeds that of plant medicine journeys—but without the crash, confusion, or loss of control.
A cornerstone of my practice is the transmission of Shaktipat, a sacred energetic activation that facilitates profound spiritual openings. This isn’t something I do to someone—it flows through me when a person is ready. It awakens them to their own divine nature.
I’m most proud of creating spaces where people can safely explore their inner world and feel spiritually empowered — without shame, pressure, or substances. There’s no performance. No hierarchy. Just an invitation to meet the divine within themselves, through the vehicle of their own body and sexual energy.
What sets me apart is the depth of embodiment I bring. I’ve been walking this path for over three decades — not as a trend, but as a lived reality. My practice is informed by a rare combination of medical knowledge, energetic mastery, and direct spiritual experience.
As a registered nurse since 1993, I bring grounded clinical experience into everything I do. That’s layered with 3,000+ Tantra healing sessions, a full-blown kundalini awakening in 2005, and certification in nervous system regulation work through Dr. Stephen Porges’s Safe and Sound Protocol. This means I don’t just hold space—I anchor it.
My work is less about performing Tantra and more about being it.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I see risk as a sacred threshold that asks whether we’re willing to leave the known to live what’s true. For me, risk has never been about recklessness. It’s about alignment. It’s about listening to the deeper call, even when it defies logic, tradition, or the expectations of others.
A significant risk that I took was leaving a conventional path in healthcare to follow an unconventional spiritual calling was a massive one. I had a stable career as a registered nurse, but I knew I was being called into deeper work that didn’t fit the mainstream mold. Choosing to facilitate Tantra ceremonies, speak openly about energy, and walk a path guided by intuition over instruction took courage. I risked being misunderstood, dismissed, even judged — but I chose truth over comfort.
Another risk was surrendering to my kundalini awakening. That experience turned my entire life inside out. It wasn’t something I could control, explain, or package neatly — and yet I followed it. I let it remake me. That was the biggest risk of all: letting go of who I thought I was, so I could become who I truly am.
To me, risk is a doorway to authenticity. Sometimes the cost of not “taking the leap” is far greater than the fall we fear. I trust that when a risk is aligned with your soul — even if it’s terrifying — it becomes the exact path to your liberation.
