Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Bueno
Hi Simone, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our lives and journeys are shaped by countless experiences and choices. Today, I want to share how I came to create Mom Is Not For Sale and how this led to a new business helping women confidently share their stories on video.
I was already the primary financial provider for our family, supporting my then-husband’s artistic endeavors. When he was in a bike accident, his physical and mental health declined, increasing my workload significantly, leaving me feeling overwhelmed and isolated.
Seeking connection and support, I turned to online communities of moms. Their stories resonated with me, and I realized that I wanted to create a space where they could feel seen, heard, and supported.
This led to the creation of Mom Is Not For Sale. As I encouraged moms to share their experiences, I realized the importance of being visible myself. I began sharing my own story and discussing my passion for supporting other moms. This eventually evolved into a new business, helping women confidently share their stories on video.
Through this experience, I realized the need for support – both for moms sharing their stories and for those wanting to launch their businesses while juggling family life. This echoes my mission with Mom Is Not For Sale.
Building this platform has been a slow but fulfilling process. I’m excited to see it grow and continue empowering moms.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, that’s for sure. Like many moms, I struggled with time management. Juggling multiple jobs, home life, and childcare made it difficult to dedicate time to the Mom Is Not For Sale project in its early stages.
Later, when I realized the importance of on-camera presence, I faced personal challenges. During my divorce, I was told I wasn’t worthy of my talents or skills. However, I never let those negative comments define me. I focused on my truth, believed in myself, and pushed forward with courage.
Finding support for my online business was also a challenge. While I didn’t have much support from my personal circle, I found a community of like-minded women online who believed in my vision. Their support was invaluable.
Even though I took small steps and didn’t see immediate results, I never gave up. I continued to juggle multiple jobs, including web design, web development, part-time work at a restaurant, and my online training business.
With consistency and staying true to myself, things started to flow more smoothly. Outsourcing content creation for the Mom Is Not For Sale website helped lighten my load and made a significant difference.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My career path has been a fascinating journey, driven by my lifelong curiosity and passion for both creative and analytical pursuits. From a young age, I was drawn to both artistic and technical fields, constantly exploring different avenues from theater to programming.
I’ve worked in various roles, including graphic design, web development, and filmmaking. My diverse experiences, coupled with my passion for innovation and problem-solving, have allowed me to develop a unique skill set that blends creativity with technical expertise.
Combining these skills, I’m particularly proud of my current work in helping women amplify their personal brand messages. By sharing their stories and shedding light on important issues, I aim to make a positive impact. My ability to combine my artistic vision with my technical skills has been instrumental in guiding them to create compelling narratives.
What sets me apart is my versatility and insatiable curiosity. I’ve successfully navigated various creative fields, from graphic design to filmmaking, demonstrating my ability to adapt to new challenges and learn new skills. My commitment to continuous learning, coupled with my willingness to share knowledge, has created a positive ripple effect throughout my career.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When seeking a mentor, I believe it’s crucial to prioritize personal connection and alignment of values. Start by listening to different mentors in your field. Pay attention to their communication style, teaching methods, and overall approach. We all connect differently, so it’s important to find someone who resonates with you on a personal level.
Leverage your existing network to find potential mentors. Ask friends, colleagues, or family members for recommendations. Additionally, explore online communities and professional organizations related to your field. Engage with members, share your thoughts, and build relationships.
Remember, word-of-mouth remains a powerful tool for finding trustworthy mentors. Seek out recommendations from people you respect and admire.
