Rising Stars: Meet Tomise Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tomise Lewis.

Hi Tomise, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a natural talent for performing. I started singing at two years old. I did my first major performance at 12 yrs old. From there, my mother put me in classes and I went from acting to singing to modeling. Eventually, I decided to get agent representation. As a result, I’ve done work for Disney, Universal, ESPN, & Telemundo and more.

I’ve been featured in commercials nationally and internationally. I decided to take a break and start working behind the scenes. I built a company that offers ghost writing & voice-over services. After doing this, I was offered an opportunity to start and manage my own streaming service called TV Buzz, launching in Fall of 2021. It’s sort of funny how all of that led me to this point. But when I’m not busy managing TV Buzz, I use my experience in entertainment at Dream City, located in Orlando. I serve and give back to my community through this organization.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I will say this. Following your dreams and being an entrepreneur is never easy. It was a leap of faith for me. Some of my struggles include a period of time when I wasn’t financially stable. A lot of people that take the “artistic” route face this. Some may never tell you, but I will. I had to go back to the drawing board and get mentored by others that were getting the results I wanted. Then after getting mentored, I had to decide to put in the work to get the results I wanted. Not only that, I made the investment in myself.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
It’s funny; I could say I specialize in results. To be honest, at different times of my life, I’ve done different things. From 2009- 2015 I did a lot of singing so some know me as vocalist. From 2011- 2018 I did a lot of commercials and modeling so some people know me for that. I’m most proud of being able to take a step back from that lifestyle, to transition into using my gifts to help others and also be more profitable. Figuring out how to use your gifts to help others gives you purpose but if you make money in process, that’s the icing on the cake. I do love cake might I add lol.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like Orlando because it represents opportunity. I moved here from Lakeland in 2009 because I wanted to get into entertainment. It provided just that for me. I didn’t feel like my hometown provided that outlet. Now the thing I like least about Orlando is the traffic.
