Today we’d like to introduce you to Valentin J Gonzalez
Hi Valentin J, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started in Venezuela, where I was a mechanical engineer specializing in robotics. I came to the U.S. in 2013, seeking opportunity and a fresh start. I landed in Orlando and found myself working at SeaWorld, maintaining and troubleshooting their cutting-edge ride technology. It was fascinating, but I craved more than just a job; I wanted to build something of my own.
I realized that real estate could be my path to financial freedom. I met an investor who promised to hand me his listings if I got my license. I dove in, got licensed within a month, and then… he disappeared due to a family emergency. There I was, licensed but without a clue how to even fill out a contract.
Instead of giving up, I decided to hustle. I focused on getting people pre-qualified for mortgages. I started hosting small gatherings, explaining the benefits of homeownership. I’d walk into the brokerage, a complete unknown, and hand the loan officer seven applications at a time. They were shocked, but they saw my drive and brought me onto their team.
I poured myself into learning the business, working long hours, and making sacrifices. In 2021, I was recognized as the Broker Rising Star, having closed over 25 transactions as a solo agent. I even had the unique experience of being cast on a reality show, which was a wild ride and a great learning experience. I also invested heavily in my professional development, earning ABR, SFR, and PSA certifications, and becoming a Zillow Top Agent and ORRA Million Dollar Club member.
Two years ago, I partnered with my incredible life partner, Abigail, and we launched The VA Team. Together, we’ve closed over 120 transactions and sold over $40 million in real estate. We’re building a strong team and creating systems that allow us to provide exceptional service.
But I’m also a multipreneur. I believe in creating and innovating. That’s why I started Florida Nexus Solutions, an Amazon prep center in St. Cloud. I want to empower other entrepreneurs and show them that they can turn their ideas into reality.
My story is about resilience, hard work, and the belief that anything is possible. I want to inspire others to take risks, embrace the hustle, and never stop creating. We live in a world where anyone can find their niche and build a successful business. It’s about finding your piece of the pie and making it your own.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road? Absolutely not! If it had been smooth, it wouldn’t have been nearly as interesting, or as rewarding.
One of the biggest struggles was starting with absolutely zero real estate knowledge. I was an engineer, not a salesperson. Learning the intricacies of contracts, negotiations, and market analysis was like learning a new language. I had to immerse myself, spending countless hours studying and shadowing experienced agents.
Then, there was the constant hustle. When I first got my license and the investor disappeared, I had to generate leads from scratch. I was knocking on doors, hosting gatherings, and basically telling everyone I knew to buy a house. It was exhausting, but I was determined.
Another major challenge was building credibility. As a new agent, people were hesitant to trust me with their biggest investment. I had to prove myself through hard work and dedication. I focused on providing exceptional service and building strong relationships with my clients.
And of course, there were the inevitable setbacks. Deals fell through, clients changed their minds, and the market fluctuated. There were times when I felt discouraged, but I learned to view these challenges as opportunities for growth.
Building a team with Abigail also had its learning curve. We had to learn how to delegate, manage, and create systems that worked for everyone. It required a lot of communication and collaboration.
Finally, balancing real estate with my other entrepreneurial ventures is a constant juggling act. I’m always looking for ways to streamline my processes and maximize my time.
But through all the struggles, I never lost sight of my goals. I learned to embrace the challenges, adapt to change, and never give up. It’s those challenges that have made me the entrepreneur I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Absolutely. My work is about more than just transactions; it’s about building relationships and helping people achieve their dreams.
What I do and specialize in: I’m a real estate agent, and my focus is on guiding clients through the complexities of the Orlando market. Abigail and I lead The VA Team, and we specialize in residential real estate, working with buyers, sellers, and investors. We’re known for our dedication, our market knowledge, and our ability to navigate even the most challenging deals. I’m also very focused on helping first time home buyers.
What I’m most proud of: I’m incredibly proud of the team Abigail and I have built. Seeing the success within 2 years, and knowing we’re helping people grow their own careers, is immensely rewarding. Of course, closing over 120 transactions and selling over $40 million is a huge accomplishment. But honestly, it’s the individual stories, the families we’ve helped find their dream homes, that truly make me proud.
What sets me apart: I think a few things set me apart. First, my background in engineering gives me a unique analytical approach to real estate. I’m very data-driven, and I’m always looking for ways to use technology to improve the client experience. Second, my entrepreneurial spirit means I’m constantly innovating and looking for new opportunities. I’m not afraid to take risks, and I’m always willing to go the extra mile for my clients. Third, my personal journey, coming from Venezuela and building a successful business from scratch, gives me a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the importance of hard work and perseverance. Also, I am very focused on education. I have earned several certifications, and I am always looking for ways to improve my knowledge.
And finally, my partnership with Abigail is a huge asset. We complement each other perfectly, and we’re both deeply committed to providing exceptional service. We are partners in life and in business. That creates an incredible dynamic, and our clients feel that. I think that is a very important part of our success.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
