Rising Stars: Meet Yaritza Thompson of Central Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yaritza Thompson

Hi Yaritza, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Moving to Central FL at the age of 5, I consider myself a lifelong resident of Central Florida. Real Estate runs in the family, as a second generation Realtor, I spent my weekends in and out of model homes and showing properties with my
first job being a Real Estate Assistant. My mother has served the Central FL area for 36 years. I am a full-time agent, and represent buyers, sellers, and investors in single family homes, townhomes and condominiums throughout Central Florida, including Downtown Orlando, Winter Garden, Windermere, and Dr. Phillips. I combine my passion for the industry with my passion for education. I have a bachelor’s in education where I taught in Orange and Lake County Florida.
At my core, I have a passion for people. Having the opportunity to learn about new clients – their
lifestyles, cultural traditions, and intricate details of their personalities – is a pleasure that working as an
agent has afforded me. Fulfilling the dream of home ownership for first time buyers, empty nesters, and
anyone else looking for a new space is more than just a transaction; it’s an opportunity to connect with
people during one of the most intimate and life-affirming experiences of their lives, and I delight in
going through the emotions and being a part of something so much bigger with them.
I joined Compass out of an ambition to elevate my business. With a mission rooted in transparency
and serving others, I understand that every client relationship is unique, and I welcome the
challenge to overcome the obstacles in the home-buying process in order to learn something new from
each transaction and make the next one even better. Matched with the backing of the our platform and multiservice
technology at Compass, including Compass Concierge, the hassle-free way to sell faster and for a
higher price, I am more than well equipped to deliver a seamless and pleasurable experience for every
client I have the opportunity to serve.
I am unwavering in my belief that Central Florida is boundless in its beauty and serves as one of the most
magical places in the world. It is through my faith in God that he has blessed me with a career where I can share my faith, build beautiful life long relationships and see God’s goodness in all of my daily adventures as an agent.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth? Ha! Real estate is more like a bumpy road filled with sharp turns and random obstacles that pop up out of nowhere. But honestly, that’s one of the reasons I love it. The unpredictability keeps me on my toes! Every transaction is unique, and the ever-changing market means I’m constantly learning something new.

My goal as an agent is to make the process feel like smooth sailing for my clients—even if, behind the scenes, I’m juggling emails, texts, and calls to ensure everything closes on time. Extremely late nights, tears and prayers. Of course, it’s not without its challenges. One of the biggest frustrations? Lazy agents. Some of us take pride in delivering exceptional service, while others barely pick up the phone and insist on only communicating via text. That can make for a challenging transaction, to say the least.

Another hurdle is the nature of our pay—we only earn a check when a deal closes. We hustle hard, invest time, effort, and often money, only to sometimes see a deal fall through with nothing to show for it. That part can be tough, especially when balancing work and family life. But at the end of the day, the highs, the learning moments, and the satisfaction of helping clients make it all worthwhile.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m in real estate, specializing in turning dreams of homeownership into reality. My approach is built on transparency and honesty, ensuring my clients always feel informed and valued. I take pride in creating an experience where there are no surprises—just trust, understanding, and results.

Looking back, I’m incredibly proud of the growth I’ve achieved as a person. I’ve become more assertive and confident, both in myself and in my business, and I’ve been blessed to create a wonderful life for my family alongside my husband.

What truly sets me apart is the foundation of my faith. I keep God at the forefront of my life and decisions, striving to walk, speak, and act in ways that honor Him. This commitment shapes how I interact with clients, colleagues, and vendors, reflecting my belief in treating others with respect, honesty, and kindness—the way I would want to be treated.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Believe it or not, I’m an introvert. After hosting an Open House, I often end up with a major headache from the exhaustion of engaging with people I don’t know and doing my best to make them feel at ease. Networking events? Not really my scene—I tend to gravitate toward the wall instead of the crowd. But if we’re close, you’ll see my true self—a total clown who loves cracking jokes and making people laugh!
