Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Glaros
Hi Zach, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started doing Halloween displays at my parents house as a child. The older I got the more elaborate the displays became. After college my father and I decided to try our hand at turning these larger than life displays at our home into something on a professional level. We began Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail in 2014 with one haunted trail and a handful of actors. We focused on our brand of entertainment and providing our guests with the intimate experience we became known for at our home. Over the past 11 years we have grown this small family attraction into an iconic haunted attraction in Florida and around the country.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning a haunted attraction can be very challenging. There are so many moving pieces that go into planning an event of this size. Being the owner, you have to know how to do so many aspects of the business if you truly want to have success. Being able to learn on the fly and withstand the challenges that life has thrown our way has provided us the opportunity to be here 11 years later. And being an outdoor attraction in central Florida is not for the faint of heart. We spend most of the year, grinding out in the hot sun and rain, working to make our attraction perfect for our guests.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One of the things that has helped set us a part in our journey has been my education and work related experience. Graduating college with a bachelors degree in advertising and masters in business provided valuable knowledge to be able to put into practical use while running the operations of our business. Combined with experience working within the marketing and advertising world for larger business as well as start-ups, also prepared me for this journey into owning a haunted attraction. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have been blessed with.
What matters most to you? Why?
Creating a memorable, lasting brand that leaves a positive impact on people is one of the most important things to me. It’s not just about making the scariest haunted house possible. To me, creating a meaningful experience with iconic characters that can easily become a tradition for guests is something that will create a lasting impact on those around us. Seeing the memories and wonderful moments we have created the past 11 years with some of our most loyal fans means the world to me. Often our event and characters are the very thing they look forward to most in coming to our event, no matter what tribulations they may be going through.
We also see this same impact through our volunteers and staff. Providing a safe space and family atmosphere for those who participate with Sir Henry’s is extremely important to me. Watching many high school students grow in their skills and develop a level of confidence is amazing. Sir Henry’s provides these students with these opportunities that they might never have received otherwise.
