We recently had the chance to connect with Danny Woodard and have shared our conversation below.
Danny, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
What is normal in our 30’s? Since our last chat, I have become a father. Mason is 2 now! In conjunction with being a father and working a full time job, the rest of my day if finding opportunities to create and capture for other. I have about a 3 hour gap in my mornings where I am able to get out there with my camera and flex that creative muscle. Late in the evenings is when the Wife and I have the time to decompress.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Danny and its my job to make you say “Wow, I can’t believe that’s really me!” I don’t just capture memories, I manufacture fun. I believe your photo session should be a riot of creativity, where your wildest ideas and our lens meet in glorious, photogenic harmony. From posing with your pet iguana to that spontaneous group jump shot, I’m here to bring your vision to life and make the experience as unforgettable as your new profile picture. With me, the only thing more memorable than your photos will be the stories behind them. I currently partner with Celebration Arts Academy as their resident photographer. Being able to use photography to show the students the results of their hard work in their dance journeys has really been a rewarding experience in itself.
The journey is really what this is all about. Even in with my boudoir work, I have had the opportunity to be a part or the journey of recovery for so many people. Weight loss, abuse, even near death experiences have a road to recovery, and I have had the honor of documenting the the progress made at a given point.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Oof, probably when I was 18, so 21 years ago? I had joined the military and was out of my parents’ house. Not power in the sense that I was wielding weaponry in the name of the USA, but I was out on my own and it was time for me to live how I wanted to. Of course, I was young and made some silly choices… but to have the ability to do that meant everything to me. I have done some really cool things between then and now and I’m fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn about who I am. It really helped me to be able to prioritize and defend the things that are important to me.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me to be resourceful! Even now, would it be great to have a massive photo studio with every prop that i could ever need? sure! But you have to be creative when you are are down just to get by. Seffering taught me to create something out of nothing!
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I am 100% me at home and in public. I’m 40.. I don’t have the energy to be anything but me.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the main takeaway from my story is to not be afraid to slow down.. to.. stop and smell the roses as they used to say and that its never to late to try something new
