Story & Lesson Highlights with Devin Wiesler of Hourglass District

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Devin Wiesler. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Devin , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One common misconception is that interior designers and decorators are the same—but they’re actually quite different. While both play a role in shaping beautiful spaces, interior design goes much deeper. It involves space planning, building codes, and technical knowledge. I think people are surprised by this, that’s why I often introduce myself as an Interior Architect, as that aligns more closely with what I actually do.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Devin Wieser, a licensed Interior Designer and WELL AP. I founded MiniMod Studio four years ago—what began as a side project quickly grew into a full-time passion. With over 11 years of experience in the industry, I’ve had the privilege of working with architectural and design firms throughout Central and South Florida, gaining invaluable knowledge and mentorship from architects and fellow designers.

I’m deeply passionate about design—especially the details—and I believe great design should be both thoughtful and accessible. My mission is to make interior design feel approachable, not just reserved for luxury. Good design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about function, collaboration, and intention. I strive to create spaces that are not only beautiful, but work well and truly support the people who use them.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I would be famous. Nowadays, I don’t think that’s the correct word I would be looking for.

Sure, I’d love to be well-known in my city or state, where it may bring in more referrals or jobs. I definitely do not want to be famous.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If everyone believes in you, then you should believe in yourself too. Don’t be afraid to start; it’s always a good time to take the initiative.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I’m always authentic in how I show up—with clients and other professionals. I believe in full transparency, and that honesty is what builds real trust with the people I work with.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. I believe in showing up fully, whether or not there’s recognition. I take pride in my work, and if I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it with intention and excellence. Giving anything less than my best simply isn’t me.
